I like this particular post on Nur Ikhwan's blog :)

Love For Allah s.w.t, our Creator.

(The most firm bonds of belief are: Supporting others for the sake of Allah, showing enmity for the sake of Allah, loving for the sake of Allah, hating for the sake of Allah the Almighty ) (Sahih Aj Jame' 2539).

Love for the sake of Allah means loving others just in the way and for the cause of Allah the Almighty, not for other objectives, just like the following verse of the Holy Quran {And those who strive in Our (cause),- We will certainly guide them to our Paths} Al-Ankabout 69. i.e. they strive in the way, for the cause and for the sake of Allah alone.

Love is a tendency toward something for certain perfection therein; therefore, if the believer acknowledged that the real perfection is just for Allah, and that any perfection observed by him in himself or in others is just a grant from Allah, his love will be sincere for the sake, in the cause, and in the way of Allah, and this entails the full obedience to Allah The Almighty; accordingly, love is construed as a wish for compliance which entails following the Prophet peace be upon him.

Islam is the religion of love for the sake of Allah, and hate for the sake of Allah; because the heart is always attached to a beloved, and if Allah The Almighty Alone was not his beloved and worshiped, the heart will be attached to others i.e. polytheism; therefore, love for the sake of Allah is the religion itself.

(Allah will overshadow seven kinds of persons at the Day of Judgment, wherein there is no shadow except His ….. two persons loved each other for the sake of Allah, met and separated under such love …..), narrated by Al-Bukhari, 1423, and Muslim.

So anyway, they have a daily reminders sms. I love the initiative. May Allah bless them and reward them for their efforts in spreading the true religion...

I love Allah

Friday, January 15, 2010

I was actually looking for the hadith qudsi about and I came across this...

MasyaAllah... Don't we all want to be closer to Allah? Allah loves you so much that's why He delays answering your doa. There is no doa of a mukmin that Allah doesn't respond to, if not now, then He will in the hereafter...

And my favourite zikr is hasbi rabbi, it's so nice that it's almost miraculous... Especially so, since each time I hear it, it reminds me of Maghrib prayers @ Ghufran because the bilal would sing it before Maghrib prayers, and of pesantren because of a story Ustaz Hassan told us, about how he wanted to perform hajj and he went to see his syeikh to consult him on how he can go when he has no money, of which his syeikh's answer was: "You already have the key with you" and the key is Allah... Doa. Then Ust sang hasbi rabbi and a miracle happened, not instantaneously but yeah... Allah answered his doa. It is not that the song was the cause that Allah answered his doa, but it just reminds me how Allah will always answer His servant's doa.

And my favourite surah is Surah Ar-Rahman (other than Al-Fatihah), for just the name itself reminds me of Allah the Most Gracious, Maha Pengasih! My roommate & I would play this surah on our laptop at random times, for different reasons. And the surah reminds me of RYC 08, as well as Ramadhan qiyam 09.

Truly, no one is more Gracious, lebih mengasihi, than Allah s.w.t. And thus only He deserves our utmost kasih.

Which brings me back to the hadith qudsi I was looking for. I've heard of the longer version for it, but I can't find it. I want to Maghrib first.

For now, this would suffice:

I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly even better than that one. And if he takes one step towards me, I take ten steps towards him. And if he comes walking to Me, I go running towards him.

Sentuhan Ramadhan @ Ghufran

Membantu yang susah dan mendamdingi yang muda...

Salam Syababs and Fatayaats!

As you all know Ghufran is the mosque mainly responsible for the well-being of the Muslims living in Tampines and Simei area (though we're never limited/restricted to these areas only) and us being youths of Ghufran are partly responsible too.

Meaning, one day Allah would ask us what had we done to help our Muslim families in Tampines and Simei? While we eat sumptuous meals for breakfast, and lunch and dinner, and not to mention the snacks in between, did we think about those who have the same meal for two days straight? While we save up to buy games, gadgets, pretty clothes, accessories and whatnots, did we think about those who save up just to cover the basic needs of his/her family: shelter, clothing, food, education, health? While we run around and have fun at the beach or go night cycling with friends etc, did we think about those who neither have money to buy/rent a bicycle nor legs to run/cycle with?

Not that I'm asking you to feel bad about yourselves or throw away all the ni'mat you've been allowed to enjoy, but I'm just asking for a little of your time within these two weeks before Ramadhan to visit the low-income families in Tampines and Simei area to help Ghufran give out some basic foodstuff to these families. There's at least 90 families who will be benefitting from this initiative, we just need people to help us distribute the foodstuff to them, and I'm extending this opportunity to you to do your part for them...

Look at your schedules and let me know here or via sms or MSN when you'd be free to help. Let me know the date and time, and if possible, also who else is able to go with you. This is something good right? So why do alone? Get the others to help as well! :)

Thank you and hope to hear some enthusiastic replies!

Last but not least, a reminder to myself as well, let's not forget to be thankful to Allah for all the ni'mat He has showered on us...

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinn and men) deny? (as repeated in Surah Ar-Rahman)

Life Vision

Saturday, May 02, 2009

I just dreamt that I was at a workshop/camp observing 3 people racing (I think with chairs) in a game infront of me. Somehow, weirdly, I realised I had a school desk on my head, with my neck stuck between the tabletop and the metal grill under it. But I managed to get it out. As I was laughing at the stupid situation and trying to stand up at the same time, I suddenly felt dizzy, saw the room in a blur, called Kak Yati's name as I try to reach out for her chair beside me and then I fainted. And I woke up, with my eyes still closed, about a minute before Nassier called.

This morning I dreamt that I swung myself out of bed and hit the stool beside my bed with both legs. When I woke up to the sound of the Subuh azan from my laptop, which I forgot to switch off, I felt a bruise on my left leg and right toe. Apparently I wasn't dreaming that. Heh.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually I miss blogging about my life here. And I'd been wanting to update. I thought I'd do it today, but I spent time doing my vision board instead (as shown below)...

Inspired by ITQAN NEMC Camp

Hopefully it's not just another Mat Jenin story... Pray for me yea?

I miss my old favourite songs, and therefore I shall change my imeem player back. To those of you non-Muslim friends who visit these blog, you can pause the player if you don't feel comfortable. Afterall, I too would do the same if I'm not comfortable with your songs :)

The previous song I put was:

I wonder what's happening in Gaza. I'd been getting daily 'doses' of news bits from TODAY on the way to work. And I haven't read any newspaper today, so yeah...

I hope the Palestinians get a bit of relieve with the 3hr daily ceasefire...

Anyway, there was an article in Berita Harian a few days ago about 'understanding' why the Jews of Israel do what they do. It goes all the way back to a period before the WWII. Jews slowly lost their rights as humans, living in Germany. And during the WWII, thousands were tortured and killed for no reason except for the belief they believe in (right?). It was NOT by Muslims btw, it was by the Germans, in case you're wondering... Anyway, that holocaust, that genocide, that massacre, as it is said in the article, affects the Jews greatly (of course it would). It is said that when Hamas sent rockets flying into Israel, the Jews probably feel threatened and decided to relatiate.

However, why do they want to retaliate by killing more than 700 Palestinian CIVILIANS, I have no idea. Especially since these too are the Palestinians who had to give part to their land for the Jews from German to live it. (right?) These are the Palestinians who gave them a chance to live, and here they are killing them.

Reminds me of a peribahasa, "bagai melepaskan anjing tersepit". :I

What we see today is a Jewish extremism act. My point is, just as there are Islamic extremists/militants, there are Jewish extremist/militants, Christian extremist/militants and other kinds of extremists/millitants (I'm thinking of Tamil Tigers etc). These extremists/militants most probably become extremists/militants because they themselves or their fellow 'brothers and sisters' or ancestors had had to face oppression in one way or another.

And the aftermath of this Israel attacks on Gaza, I'm afraid, may just give rise to the world seeing more Islamic extremists/militants. (there was an article in TODAY I think which mentioned this) They saw violence, all they saw was violence and they shall grow up to embrace violence as part of their lives... I'm just saying that if after this, we see more Islamic extremists/militants coming from Palestine, don't blame the Islamic teachings...

Just wanna share what was shared with me... What is aqidah?

3 translations of Surah Al-Baqarah (2): 177

Yusuf Ali:
It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in God and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing.

T.U. Hilali-M. Khan:
It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, and each and every act of obedience to Allâh, etc.) that you turn your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers); but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allâh, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, the Prophets and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, and to Al-Masâkin (the poor), and to the wayfarer, and to those who ask, and to set slaves free, performs As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and gives the Zakât, and who fulfill their covenant when they make it, and who are As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.) in extreme poverty and ailment (disease) and at the time of fighting (during the battles). Such are the people of the truth and they are AlMuttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2).

M. Pickthall:
It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor-due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the God-fearing.

Taken from here.

As I've mentioned earlier, English (or Malay too for that matter) cannot cover the Arabic words fully. Arabic words are rich with meaning and one English translation do not truly give justice to the real meaning of alot of Qur'anic verses...

Anyway, do visit youngmuslims.ca... The online library looks interesting. And there was one book recommended to me: "To be a Muslim" by Fathi Yakkan.

The Tafsir of Surat Al-Ikhlas (Chapter - 112)
Which was revealed in Makkah
The Reason for the Revelation of this Surah and its Virtues

Imam Ahmad recorded from Ubayy bin Ka`b that the idolaters said to the Prophet, "O Muhammad! Tell us the lineage of your Lord.'' So Allah revealed(Say: "He is Allah, One. Allah He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to
Him.'')

Similar was recorded by At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Jarir and they added in their narration that he said,"(As-Samad) is One Who does not give birth, nor was He born, because there is nothing that is born except that it will die, and there is nothing that dies except that it leaves behind inheritance, and indeed Allah does not die and He does not leave behind any inheritance.(And there is none comparable to Him.) This means that there is none similar to Him, none equal to Him and there is nothing at all like Him.''

Ibn Abi Hatim also recorded it and At-Tirmidhi mentioned
it as a Mursal narration. Then At-Tirmidhi said, "And this is the most correct.''

A Hadith on its Virtues

Al-Bukhari reported from `Amrah bint `Abdur-Rahman, who used to stay in the apartment of `A'ishah, the wife of the Prophet, that `A'ishah said, "The Prophet sent a man as the commander of a war expedition and he used to lead his companions in prayer with recitation (of the Qur'an). And he would complete his recitation with the recitation of `Say: He is Allah, One.' So when they returned they mentioned that to the Prophet and he said,(Ask him why does he do that.) So they asked him and he said, `Because it is the description of Ar-Rahman and I love to recite it. So the Prophet said,(Inform him that Allah the Most High loves him.)'' This is how Al-Bukhari recorded this Hadith in his Book of Tawhid. Muslim and An-Nasa'i also recorded it.

In his Book of Salah, Al-Bukhari recorded that Anas said, "A man from the Ansar used to lead the people in prayer in the Masjid of Quba'. Whenever he began a Surah in the recitation of the prayer that he was leading them, he would start by reciting `Say: He is Allah, One' until he completed the entire Surah. Then he would recite another Surah along with it (after it). And used to do this in every Rak`ah. So his companions spoke to him about this saying; `Verily, you begin the prayer with this Surah. Then you think that it is not sufficient for you unless you recite another Surah as well. So you should either recite it or leave it and recite another Surah instead.' The man replied, `I will not leave it off. If you want me to continue leading you(in prayer), I will do this; and if you all do not like it, I will leave you (i.e., I will stop leading you).' They used to consider him to be of the best of them to lead them in prayer and they did not want anyone else to lead them other than him. So, when the Prophet came they informed him of this information
and he said,(O so-and-so! What prevents you from doing what your companions are commanding you to do, and what makes you adhere to the recitation of this Surah in every Rak`ah) The man said, `Verily, I love it.' The Prophet replied,(Your love of it will cause you to enter Paradise.) This was recorded by Al-Bukhari, with a
disconnected chain, but in a manner indicating his approval.

A Hadith that mentions this Surah is equivalent to a Third of the Qur'an

Al-Bukhari recorded from Abu Sa`id that a man heard another man reciting(Say: "He is Allah, One.'') and he was repeating over and over. So when morning came, the man went
to the Prophet and mentioned that to him, and it was as though he was belittling it. The Prophet said,(By He in Whose Hand is my soul, verily it is equivalent to a third of the Qur'an.) Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i also recorded it.

Another Hadith Al-Bukhari recorded from Abu Sa`id, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah said to his Companions,(Is one of you not able to recite a third of the Qur'an in a single night) This was something that was difficult for them and they said, "Which of us is able to do that, O Messenger of Allah'' So he replied,("Allah is the One, As-Samad'' is a third of the Qur'an.) Al-Bukhari was alone in recording this Hadith.

There's more. You can read it here.

Surah al-Fath. Al-Fath meaning 'the victory'. May the ultimate victory goes to the Palestinians. The victorious are afterall not those who are 'successful' on this temporary earth, instead the victorious are those who earn His pleasure through this life for the wonderful rewards He offers in the hereafter, right? Pray may the Palestinians be given strength to hold strongly to their faith...

You can hear the whole Surah by Mishary here.

I was hop-hop-hopping and found a brother's blog about Al-Fatihah. Haha, I'm learning about Al-Fatihah in Tafsir module of DPIA...

Anyway, there was a 'poster' at this brother's blog. Initially I thought it was the lyrics of the song by In-Team (see earlier post), but after reading it, I guess In-Team actually used the doa for the song larh...

Keep my heart firm on Your religion

Tafsir Surah Al-Anfal

Allah comes in between a Person and His Heart

Allah said,

[وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ]

(and know that Allah comes in between a person and his heart.)

Ibn `Abbas commented, "Allah prevents the believer from disbelief and the disbeliever from faith.'' Al-Hakim recorded this in his Mustadrak and said, "It is Sahih and they did not record it.'' . Similar was said by Mujahid, Sa`id, `Ikrimah, Ad-Dahhak, Abu Salih `Atiyyah, Muqatil bin Hayyan and As-Suddi. In another report from Mujahid, he commented;

[يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ]

(...comes in between a person and his heart.) "Leaves him without comprehension,'' As-Suddi said, "Prevents one self from his own heart, so he will neither believe nor disbelieve except by His leave.'' There are several Hadiths that conform with the meaning of this Ayah. For instance, Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas bin Malik said, "The Prophet used to often say these words,

«يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِك»

(O You Who changes the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.) We said, `O Allah's Messenger! We believed in you and in what you brought us. Are you afraid for us' He said,

«نَعَمْ، إِنَّ الْقُلُوبَ بَيْنَ إِصْبَعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ اللهِ تَعَالَى يُقَلِّبُهَا»

(Yes, for the hearts are between two of Allah's Fingers, He changes them (as He wills).)''

This is the same narration recorded by At-Tirmidhi in the Book of Qadar in his Jami' [Sunan], and he said, "Hasan.'' Imam Ahmad recorded that An-Nawwas bin Sam`an Al-Kilabi said that he heard the Prophet saying,

«مَا مِنْ قَلْبٍ إِلَّا وَهُوَ بَيْنَ أُصْبُعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ الرَّحْمَنِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يُقِيمَهُ أَقَامَهُ وَإِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يُزِيغَهُ أَزَاغَه»

(Every heart is between two of the Fingers of the Most Beneficent (Allah), Lord of all that exists, if He wills, He makes it straight, and if He wills, He makes it stray.)

And he said:

«يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِك»

(O You Who changes the hearts! keep my heart firm on Your religion) And he would say;

«وَالْمِيزَانُ بِيَدِ الرَّحْمنِ يَخْفِضُهُ وَيَرْفَعُه»

(The Balance is in the Hand of Ar-Rahman, He raises and lowers it.)

This was also recorded by An-Nasai and Ibn Majah.

Happy Dappy Lappy No No Sappy Mappy!

Thursday, April 03, 2008

Yay yay! I so happy. Haha, the whole day I couldn't get online to blog lol.

Before I start anything though, just something to share. Some of you Fityanees may have received it from Bro Hilmi as well, but I'd like to put here nevertheless for the benefit of others hehe

[Qur'an]
And When My servants ask you about Me, I am indeed close: I
listen to the prayer of every praying person when he calls on
Me: So let them also, listen to My call, and believe in Me, so
that they may walk straight.
Surat AlBaqarah 2:186

[Lessons from this Verse]
Allah promises to listen to us when we raise our hands in
supplication. Too often when we are down or just can't get
things done, we suffer in silence, and forget to turn to Allah
in supplication. Not today!

Yeah! Remember Allah! Teguhkan iman di hati lalu basahkan lidah dengan zikrullah... A reminder to myself and all of you out there!

Anyway, today is quite a fruitful day starting late last night... Finished translating Khala's report from Malay to English, finished typing out all 4 past DT prog meeting minutes (ok dah serik type minutes dah), did lots of things and learnt a lot as well during DRP session today and managed to squeeze in another DT prog meet at the end of the day woo hoo~!

DRP was erm... rather enjoyable. Haha, weird to be saying that considering I did quite alot of mistakes and some stupid incidents as well until Ms Yian call me 'comical'~ Lol, Marliyana comical?? That's unheard of lol! Know why she call me comical? Cos I exitted the TCM room, held out the door for the rest to go out then I spinned around and hit into that big red box where the fire hose or whatever is stored. Ms Yian was like, "Marliyana! How can you not see the box?? It's BIG and it's RED in colour! Comical lar you!" All the way from TCM room to Microbio decon room to the centrifuge till out the decon room Ms Yian was laughing at me. Lol, Yasmeen and I were laughing too uh. According to Ms Yian, it isn't the first time I (nearly) hit the red box. Lol okkkkk...

During the DRP there was this time from 1.30pm till 3.30pm I can't do anything else except to stare at a spinning round bottom flask in a water bath to ensure the foam formed don't get too big. Spin spin spin, otak aku pon spin spin spin lol. Initially Ms Yian was there to erm... 'accompany' aka supervise me. But after awhile she left me to guard the foams lol. Menanguk lah aku kat situ. Until Yasmeen came. Kitorang berbual-bual tak rasa seh 1hr pass by so quickly haha. Macam-macam seh kitorang berbual! Parents basically. Her dad like my mum, her mum like my dad lol esp. part studies and BGR issues heheh.

Ms Yian seems to think today is Tuesday and that it's my 2nd day in AS4 haha. padahal it's Thursday and it's my 3rd day there! K nvm... I guess that is how it is when you work in a research lab. Some people go crazy I guess and thus the name 'mad scientist' comes about perhaps?

Which remind me... I met two umm... 'unwell' people today. One on my way to masjid, one on the way back. The one I met on the way to masjid was smiling alone. Smile all the way from one traffic junction to another. Smile as in until can see teeth one know. The way he dress shirt tucked in all the way and pants belted tightly above waist level and he was cuddling a bottle in his arms. I think he is 'unwell'... The other person whom I saw on the way back was walking as if he was cycling on a bicycle then his mouth was moving as if he's talking. Hmm... FYI, for both, i checked whether they had any ear-piece plugged in their ears and they weren't. People with ear-piece in their ears do look like they belong to the 'unwell' group you know... Talk alone, smile alone, laugh alone, do funny gestures/actions haha...

Oh ya, forgot to mention... Before I left AS4, i was frantically searching for my notebook (my precioussssss... all my knowledge for prog and for drp inside ok!) when Ms Yian showed me where I'd left it, then she said, "Wah you how many days only you're here, you already get my disease arh? I also always look everywhere for my things until someone points it out to me." LOL. My reply, "It must be this TCM room..." Haha... Btw, Ms Yian calls AS4 a slimming center. At times you don't have any breaks from your experiment! Wahhhhh!!!

Since today seems like a pretty good dy, I treated myself to my favourite Yeo's chrysanthemum tea and a big pack of calbee chips and a small pack of twisties and a pack of chocolate nuts yum yum!

I'm happieeeeee!! Lol. Got stress also larh actually. You can never run away from stress in sg lor...

A reminder to myself and you before I end off. Whatever you do, NIAT MESTI BETUL! Segala-galanya hendaklah hanya untuk Allah. Demi mencapai mardhatillah.

Marliyana! Niat jangan berubah Marliyana! Waduhh! Susah benor kebelakangan ni...

Assignments Assignments

Saturday, March 22, 2008

I'm so scared.... So so scared. What if I can't finish my assignments? My printer at home no ink oredi and it's ngek ngok oredi oso. How how? And I definitely can't finish the assignments in time to print at tp. Library closes at 1pm! I've got a long way to go... I've barely started. Should I write in English or Malay? Hmm, I can't decide... and my bibliography is so rabak. All internet sources. Trusted source or not oso I dunno.

Oh and hadith internet source is so hard to find! So many are corrupted opinions of the different groups of 'Islam': the Shia, the Sunni, the dunno what else. I'm a Muslim. My religion is Islam. Allah is my God and God of the whole universe. And Muhammad is Allah's messenger. And I believe in Rasulullah's companions, as well as the scholars who have contributed much to the Muslim society then and now. Qur'an is my guide. Hadith/Sunnah Rasul is my interpreter of the Qur'an. I believe Qur'an is kalamullah and it is the truth. And I do believe it is complete and applies to all of this era: Rasulullah's umat. Yet I do believe in the hadith/sunnah as well, because I believe nothing comes out of Rasulullah's mouth but the truth and none of his actions are wrong, unless Allah points it out, because eventhough Rasulullah is a highly-respected man and the best of all examples, he is still a human and humans make mistakes. Though his mistakes are immediately corrected by Allah whereas ours are not. If you then think that Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim and all those scholars who compiled the hadiths are fake, I''ve studied their histories and the methodologies they used and I believe that if they say a certain hadith bis sahih or authentic then I shall believe so. I believe what I believe and you believe what you believe. And I believe Islam is Islam.

I just can't see why they so cannot tolerate Islam as it is. They cannot say something bad about Allah or the Qur'an, they'll say something bad about Rasulullah or the hadtiths. They cannot say something bad about Rasulullah, they'll say something bad about the scholars or their works. Irritating orientalists and opinionated people.

in the first place, why must there be all these groups of Muslims that call themselves under a different name?? I'm confused at times because of all these. It's like they've created new religions you know. They may be right in some matters, but i dunno la eh.. It's like if they go on doing whatever they believe, it's up to them la ok, but if they go on and criticise others, then it's like so politics uh. And for sure, they are making my life as a student trying to complete my assignments very hard.

I'm not saying I am right and they are wrong. For all I know, I am wrong. And I guess I'm being judgemental and am stereotyping. And therefore, I pray to Allah:

O Allah, please guide me to the right path. The path of those whom you give nikmat. Not the path of those who are at a loss or those who are lost.

I feel like I'm doing social studies all over again. Like reliability, detecting biasness and whatsoever.

Ambition & Knowledge

Sunday, February 17, 2008

Finally I can get to go online! Rinduuuu sesangat ngan blogku ni.. Sehati sejiwa. Bila berpisahan aduhh... Haha.

I have a feeling I'm gonna be full of randomness today... Haha, that's how my thoughts are like right now: super random (ok, it may be random but there's reason behind it ok)

I've been doing alot of thinking lately. Nothing new actually larh, but sometimes it's just more intense, like now... Haha.

No more addicted to nutella, now I'm addicted to Chips More double choc cookies and fried drumlets! Having that just for breakfast and dinner (lunch need some carbo la kan..) is enough!

I really wanna change my blogskin. Been months... Nur Ikhwan dah lamer change blogskin, Fityan baru tukar blogskin yet again (6th one already!), mine is still the same old same old... Salang bro Mohksin nye blog pon dah tukar skin la dey!

Listening to Savage Garden Crash and Burn again.. Sometimes I feel that I have no one to turn to (actually ader, cuma diri ni je ego kott), but my comfort is deep deep in my heart. Nanti time sunyi sunyi tu ade suara hati kata: "Kan Allah ade.. Bukankah dia yang Maha Mendengar? And as Shikin puts it, Allah can comfort you in ways nobody else can." Ade betol tu. Guess sometimes what we need is just some quiet time to reflect and to remember Allah.

A few weeks back I was asked, what would I wanna be in the future and yeah, I'm still thinking about it. I think I've narrowed things down to 3 (for today... Haha, tau2 besok tukar dah).

1) Research scientist. I came across my old old webby and that was what I wrote in my ambition part. And guess it is still in me. I am doing Biotech afterall right. And I used to love Bio and still do. Life Sciences always attract my attention. Subjects like Genetics, Molecular Biology, Mammalian Cell Technology and Tissue Engineering are very appealing to me. However, hal bioethics ni yang merunsingkan... Especially when you talk about Islam. But tadi my ustaz kat Andalus tu cakap that knowledge on itself is not wrong, what makes it wrong is how you apply the knowledge. Hmm, ade betol nye jugak. But to think of it, kalau kita dah kerja under a company, kan kita kena buat ape supervisor dan orang2 atasan kita tu cakap. Dorang suroh kita research, kita pon research. Then what they do with the results we obtain is their problem, not ours. And what if they use it for the wrong reasons? Macam cloning... Cloning cells to make organs to replace diseased tissues may be fine. Tolong orang kan gitu. But if cloning is used because humans are trying to be God by creating a creature, dah salah tu. Abe kita yang ade kena-mengena dengan research tu kirakan bersubahat ke? Hmm... But of course there are other areas of research... Plant technology contohnya. Tapi plant boring ah haha. In my opinion lah. Gakkan nak kerja with things you have no passion for. Buang masa dan tenaga je.

2) Doctor/gynaecologist. It has been in my head ever since my uncle mentioned it. He had high hopes for me and when I didn't do well for O level somehow I feel that I let him down. So there's a part of me that wanna be a doctor to sort of make up for my O level. To show that I can do it. Lagipun tengoklah, berapa je doctor yang Melayu Islam kat Singapore ni, you tell me. Tak ramai... Macam sedih gitu kan. Lagi2 bilangan doctor Mekayu wanita. Hah. Dengan sebab ini, terpaksa lah kaum wanita Islam kita berjumpa dengan doctor berbangsa/berjantina lain. And you know, biasalah jumpa doctor most likely ade kena bukak aurat sikit kan. Salang injection nak kena roll up sleeve. Aurat tu... And gynaecologist... Aurat yang perlu dibuka adalah kemaluan kita. Dan gynaecologist banyak lelaki! From what I heard lah... Malukan, ada lelaki yang tak dikenali tengok kemaluan kita. Tapi nak buat macam mana. That's why ade cita2 nak jadi gynaecologist ni... Sumber inspirasi: Dr Jaslan Joosoph (kalau tak silap namanya) kat BH tu hehe. Ada satu article tu, dia cakap tentang menyambut kedatangan seorang bayi tu, macam seronok! You are the first person to receive a khalifah into the world! Pikirkan tu je macam betol terdorong nak jadi gynae hehe. Tapi seram jugak. Darah berlambak2, air tuban bocor lah bla bla bla. Haha, and ish my hands kekadang tak steady. Nervous je menggeletar macam ape. Mana boleh!

3) Nak mengajar kat madrasah setempat kita. Ajar science kott haha. Tapiiiiii... I am one very impatient person. Salang dengan kucing aku je hai... (hari tu dia masuk almari aku, terpekik2 aku macam orang gila marah dia, geram tau, dah banyak bilang dia jangan masuk bilik aku, ni dia masuk almari aku duduk atas baju2 aku ok! Punyelah fed-up!) Besides, macam boring... Almost every cousin of mine on my dad's side is a teacher. Adelah satu accountant. Tu lah aku nak jadi doctor. Haha, it's just me. Orang sume buat ni, aku nak buat yang lain daripada dorang. Dorongan nak mengajar kat madrasah ni ialah nak tengok lebih ramai anak-anak Melayu Islam kita berjaya. I feel as if I have a responsibility gitu to be involved in the system. I wanna prove, pelajar dari madrasah pon boleh berjaya. Bukannya sekarang takde... Malah I feel that sekarang makin ramai. But you know, it's different to be on the outside looking in and to actually be on the inside getting nvolved in things? Actually sekarang ni ada orang tu ajak volunteer kat Madrasah Irsyad tolong mentor budak2 pri 6 dorang Eng, Math, Sci. Nak jugak, tapi it's at Newton! Definitely my parents tak kasi. And myself sekarang ni kalau ade banyak masa nak luangkan takpe jugak. Tapi everyday I get home the only thing I wish to do is sleep! I feel guilty lah, macam self-centered gitu kan. But, let's just say I have my own way of contributing to the Malay Muslim society of Singapore? Not that I'm doing much, but I'm giving my best.

I see ramai sisters around me ajar tution. Aku pon nak... Tapi salang adik (lain mak lain bapak) aku mintak tolong pon aku tak tahu aku boleh tolong ke tak. Even my friends yang I see practically everyday, perhaps more time than I see my parents, I don't think I've helped enough. Entahlah eh. I guess right now I've fulfilled the lower levels of Maslow's Hierarchhy: physiological, safety, love and belongingness, esteem, and now I need to achieve self actualisation?

I know there is a purpose of me being here on earth. Haha, terasa macam I'm on a mission gitu. Just that I don't know the exact purpose (putting aside to sembah Allah k), the exact reason why I'm here and the exact role, job or mission that I need to accomplish. Maybe I'll realise it someday. And maybe also I never will, if Allah wishes to take me away from my loved ones.

Haha, you have an idea of what is going on in my head... And this is of course not all.

My all time love=knowledge. I really value knowledge. Kekadang the only reason I go to school is knowledge and to extract as much as possible, and not to do well. Especially lately when I keep hearing about this word called ilm'. Aliff, lam, mim. Eh, I just realised, that's the starting letters of certain surahs. But I'm not saying that it means ilm'!!!!!! Don't say that I'm saying it refers to ilm'. Hanya Allah sahaja yang tahu makna Aliff, Lam, Mim tu ok. Ahli tafsir pon tak berani tafsir apatah lagi aku yang tak seberapa ni. Don't get me wrong. Cuma ter-realise jap je tadi.

Let me share a few things I hear about this word called ilm'.

From Ustaz Husny:

From can't-remember-who: Ilmu mula-mula kita belajar, kita sombong. Lawanlah sifat sombong itu dengan sifat tawadhu'. Kita akan dapati bahawasanya banyak yang tidak kita ketahui. Dan akhirnya, kita akan mendapati diri kita ini sebenarnya jahil.

In other words, the more we study, the less (we realise that) we know actually. There's always someone smarter and more knowledgeable than us (like kisah Nabi Musa and Nabi Khidir dalam Al-Qur'an) and of course the Most Knowledgeable, yang Maha Mengetahui segala sesuatu sebenarnya adalah Allah s.w.t.

From the Ustaz I'm learning from at Andalus currently (I don't wanna mention his name larh, cos he's quite adept at all this internet stuff and I've learnt my lesson. You write a teacher's name on your blog, that teacher will find your blog and keep tabs on you. And if you're on agreeable terms with the teacher it'd be fine, but some people you just find it hard to agree with what they believe in.):

Sumbangan besar umat Islam pada dunia adalah ilmu dan ilmu yang paling penting dalam tamadun Islam (I'm learning about sejarah and tamadun Islam) ialah mengenali Allah (ma'arifatullah).

Human knowledge is like a drop of water compared to Allah's knowledge.

(Note that all this is what my Ustaz say, not me) Ilmu itu seluas lautan dan dalam kisah Nabi Musa dan Nabi Khidir dalam Surah Al-Kahfi, Nabi Musa dikatakan akan berjumpa Nabi Khidir di mana 2 lautan bertemu, and since ilmu itu seluas lautan, makna 2 lautan bertemu ialah apabila ilmu dunia bertemu dengan ilmu akhirat.

Wow, another extremely long post. Sorry, it's become a habit. At least this post is err... meaningful? I hope. I'd really like to share about what I learn in KPR, so bear with me? Or you can go click that red 'X' at the top... Won't hurt me a bit.

Jiwa Fityan

Monday, January 28, 2008

Mati-mati aku ingatkan nama dia ginvera sekali gerbera rupanya haha. Nice right the flower?

Anyway, tengah jiwa Fityan sikit so...

6 Commandments of Fiyan-hood

1. Respect for one another
2. Salams and greetings
3. Perform prayers on time
4. Able to read the Al- Quran
5. Positive thinkers
6. Able to accept and give constructive comments

"O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared and die not except in a state of Islam. And hold fast together all of you to the rope of Allah, and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah's favours on you; for you were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace you became brothers; and you were on the brink of the pit of fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His signs clear to you that you may be guided." [Qur'an 3: 102-103]

Dah terlanjur tu kan, share skali lah:

The Messenger of Allah (saws) also said, "The Muslims are like a body, if one part of the body hurts, rest of the body will also suffer" [Muslim] meaning that all Muslims are one Ummah and they cannot be separated from each other.

Sisters, I'd urge you to read this. It was shared by Liyana from NI during our usrah and I'd like to share it with all of you now =)

Btw, don't forget to check out on youtube:
-Documentary: Muhammad Legacy of a Prophet
-Muhammad Utusan Terakhir

Youth Leader? Big responsibility. I can't carry that =(

I juz watched a horror show on Star Movies, macam nak muntah tengok 'hantu' dia. Gross seh... Btw hantu dia kan, hantu Christian haha, tak takut the cross as in normal horror shows.

It's drizzling outside. And I wanna eat... Oh btw Liyana (Fityan) and Zee, one of you said that Aiman is a male name so how could Ummu Aiman be female right? Actually yes you're right, Aiman is a male and Ummu Aiman refers to Aiman's mother. Ummu=Ummi=Mother?

Do you have what it takes? - Al-Mukminun

[بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ ]

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

(1. Successful indeed are the believers.) (2. Those who with their Salah are Khashi`un.) (3. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw.) (4. And those who pay the Zakah.) (5. And those who guard their private parts.) (6. Except from their wives or their right hand possessions, for then, they are free from blame.) (7. But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors.) (8. Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat and to their covenants are Ra`un.) (9. And those who strictly guard their Salawat.) (10. These are indeed the heirs. ) (11. Who shall inherit Firdaws. They shall dwell therein forever.)

[1]
Sesungguhnya berjayalah orang-orang yang beriman,
[2]
Iaitu mereka yang khusyuk dalam sembahyangnya;
[3]
Dan mereka yang menjauhkan diri dari perbuatan dan perkataan yang sia-sia;
[4]
Dan mereka yang berusaha membersihkan hartanya (dengan menunaikan zakat harta itu);
[5]
Dan mereka yang menjaga kehormatannya, -
[6]
Kecuali kepada isterinya atau hamba sahayanya maka sesungguhnya mereka tidak tercela: -
[7]
Kemudian, sesiapa yang mengingini selain dari yang demikian, maka merekalah orang-orang yang melampaui batas;
[8]
Dan mereka yang menjaga amanah dan janjinya;
[9]
Dan mereka yang tetap memelihara sembahyangnya;
[10]
Mereka itulah orang-orang yang berhak mewarisi -
[11]
Yang akan mewarisi Syurga Firdaus; mereka kekal di dalamnya.
