I'd been smiling ever since Kelas Peningkatan Remaja (KPR) just now. Today's class was about the Requirements (In Malay is Tuntutan - I'm not sure if I'd translated properly) of Iman and I find the lesson very useful. My belief in Allah the Almighty, Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and the teachings of Islam really deepened and I hope it will continue so. Uztaz Shaharom also made the lesson enjoyable by adding comic relief in between. I didn't regret going to Darul Ghufran Mosque (MDG) today. I got what I wanted, and more.

Just a while ago I was checking my Yahoo mail inbox and all the new messages are really meaningful. Below I'd posted three of them for public view. I especially like the 'Top 10 Beauty Tips' haha. It's rather true you know... But of course, your aqidah must be good too and you should do what is right in Islam and avoid what is wrong. As I learned in KPR just now, "What humans think is right is not always right and what they think is wrong is not always wrong. At the same time, what is good as taught in Islam is not always seen to be good by humans and what is wrong is not always seen to be wrong." Haha go figure. If you don't understand, you can e-mail me and I will gladly list some examples for you! So anyway, enjoy the following three posts and hopefully you find the peace I found after reading them. I'm still smiling! Hahakz. I love Islam. I'm very grateful that I was born a Muslim and my parents sent me to religious class to make be a proper Mukmin! =)

The Story of an African King and His Friend (e-mail)

A story is told about a King in Africa who had a close friend that he
grew up with. The friend had a habit of looking at every situation that
ever occurred in his life (positive or negative) by remarking, "This is
good, Allah Almighty knows best" One day the King and his friend were out
on a hunting expedition. The friend would load and prepare the guns for
the King. The friend had apparently done something wrong in preparing one
of the guns, for after taking the gun from his friend, the King fired it
and his thumb was blown off. Examining the situation the friend remarked
as usual, "This is good! Allah Almighty knows best." To which the King
replied, "No, this is NOT good!" and ordered his soldiers to put his
friend into jail. About a year later, the King was hunting in an area
that he should have known to stay clear of. Cannibals captured the King
and took him to their village. They tied his hands, stacked some wood, set
up a stake and bound him to t! he stake. As they came near to set fire to
the wood, they noticed that the King was missing a thumb. Being
superstitious, they never ate anyone who was less
than whole. So after untying the King, they chased him out of the village.

When the King reached his Palace, he was reminded of the event that had
taken his thumb and felt remorse for his treatment of his friend. He went
immediately to the jail to speak with his friend.

"You were right" the King said, "it was good that my thumb was blown off."
And he proceeded to tell the friend all that had just happened. "I am very
sorry for sending you to jail for so long. It was bad for me to do this."
"No," his friend replied, "this is good...Allah Almighty knows best"
"What do you mean, 'this is good'! How could it be good that I sent my
friend to jail for a year?"

The King's friend replied: "Remember that the Almighty knows best and if I
had NOT been in jail, I would have been with you on that hunting trip."

"He knows what is before them And what is behind them: And to Allah go
back All questions (for decision)" Qur'an:Surah Al Hajj 22:76

Do Not Judge Things or Events by its Immediate Outcome! Almighty, the Most
High, is the All-Knowledgable, the All-Knower... He chooses to show us
things... but sometimes... we are not shown the wisdom behind somethings.
When we are confronted by circumstances that are not very pleasing.... we
are quick to say: "This is not good..." but... is it really? We might not
know the purpose behind it. It might turn to be a good thing.... thus..
.when we are faced with any situation... do not be too quick to judge...
always remember.... this life is a test... the good and the bad.... and
there is nothing that happens for no reason... our brains are just not
gifted enough to understand these reasons yet. Sometimes ... things happen
to us for a reason.

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:

*Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: When Allah created the
creation He put down **in his Book, which is with Him upon the Throne:
Verily, My mercy predominates My wrath.*

Hadith number in Sahih Muslim [Arabic only]: 4939; English: Book 37,
Number 6626

All praises and thanks be to Allah, Lord of everything that exists. The
most Gracious, the Most Merciful.Master of the Day of Judgment You (alone)
we worship, and You (alone) we ask for help.Guide us to the Straight Way
The Way of of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of
those who earned Your Anger, nor those who went astray. Ameen

Attempt to Think (e-mail)

Many years ago in a small Indian village, a farmer had the misfortune of
owing a large sum of money to a village moneylender.

The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the farmer's beautiful
daughter. So he proposed a bargain.

He said he would forgo the farmer's debt if he could marry his daughter.
Both the farmer and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. So the
cunning money-lender suggested that they let providence decide the matter.
He told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an
empty money bag.

Then the girl would have to pick one pebble from the bag.

1) If she picked the black pebble, she would become his wife and her
father's debt would be forgiven.

2) If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father's
debt would still be forgiven.

3) But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into
jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the farmer's field. As they
talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked
them
up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles
and
put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick a pebble from the
bag.

Now, imagine that you were standing in the field.

What would you have done if you were the girl?

If you had to advise her, what would you have told her?

Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.

2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and
expose the money-lender as a cheat.

3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to
save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

Take a moment to ponder over the story. The above story is used with the
hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral and
logical thinking. The girl's dilemma cannot be solved with traditional
logical thinking. Think of the consequences if she chooses the above
logical answers.

What would you recommend to the Girl to do?

Scroll down if you give up...............

Well, here is what she did ....

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without
looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path
where
it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

"Oh, how clumsy of me," she said. "But never mind, if you look into the
bag
for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked."

Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had
picked
the white one. And since the money-lender dared not admit his dishonesty,
the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an extremely
advantageous one.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Most complex problems do have a solution.
It is only that we don't attempt to think.

As this life is a trial for man, he has to face circumstances of
varying nature designed to test the veracity of his claim that he
believes in God and also to cleanse him of undesirable immoral
characteristics. The meticulous details of this trial for each person
are undeniably prefigured. This should ensure us that the trial in
question would be carried out in the most appropriate and befitting
manner. In other words, since the scheme of this trial is designed by
the Most Wise, it can never be unfair. Being engulfed by adversities?an
essential element of this trial?man is, however, prone to forget this
indisputable reality i.e. the trial of life is fair no matter how
tremendous the adversities that befall us. He needs to know that this
trial presupposes certain immutable facts that conform to sense and
reason and accord with perfect justice. Losing sight of these facts
means to lose strength and courage to fight trying circumstances. What
follows is a brief note meant to elucidate these facts so that we
refresh our knowledge in this respect and thus consolidate our faith in
order to combat adverse circumstances.

Allah is not our Enemy
The foremost thing we must bear in mind is that Allah does not
harbor hostility against us. He does not raise obstacles in our way
because?May Allah forgive me?He bears grudges or strong resentment to
us nor is it that He despises our very existence so much as to do away
with it.
He has presented Himself as a friend of mankind; and as good
friends usually do, He warns us of our foremost enemy, Satan, lest we
should let ourselves be carried away by his illusive promises.
Similarly, it is evidently clear that Allah does not take any step
without giving respite to His servants. He has asserted the fact that
if He were to catch everyone guilty of committing sins right on the
spot, none from the progeny of Adam (sws) would remain protected. He
has indeed devised the law of giving respite to the sinners. He in fact
awards reprieve to each wrong doer in order to allow him to repent for
his sins and mend his ways. If it were not for this allowance, we
would have been punished as soon as we erred.
Allah is our well-wisher and great friend too. However, He should
not be taken as a friend who maintains unprincipled friendship and
continues to support His friends even when they do mischief. On the
contrary, He is a sincere friend; instead of helping us transgress
moral limits, He is always there to guide us to the right path. In
addition to sending us various Prophets and awarding us Divine Books,
He has designed a world of comfort and difficulty to teach us and help
us remain steadfast on the right path.
We must also know that Allah is not how the Jews endeavored to
portray Him. They suffered from the illusions that since they were the
descendents of the righteous Prophets of Allah; they were entitled to
cross the threshold of Paradise no matter how immoral life they would
lead. And if, in all probability, they were cast into Hell, they would
not stay there but for a few days. The Almighty has rebutted their
misconception and has termed this: Al-Had Fi Al-sifat (denying the
essential attributes of the Lord)?a term which implies that this is as
heinous a crime as associating partners with Him.

Allah does not burden us beyond our Capacity
The second fact we ought to always keep in view is that Allah
burdens us with only those responsibilities that we can easily
discharge; they are never of such high intensity as to make us lose our
faith. The Holy Qur'an has elucidated this fact in the words that
follow:
We task not any soul beyond its capacity. (7:152)
Obviously, if this sublime principle had been overlooked, the
entire scheme of test and trial would have become an act of tyranny and
oppression. Keeping this premise in mind about the Shari'ah, we can
safely conclude that Allah will adhere to this principle regarding
other tests of life as well. His attributes definitely negate the very
notion that He overburdens us just to shake our strength and shatter
our hopes. Therefore, the underlying purpose behind every seemingly
astronomical adversity is to test us; the Almighty never aims at
exasperating us through adversities.

Adversities are not meant to deprive us of our Faith
As an offshoot of the principle delineated above, what comes to
light is that Allah does not create troubles for us in order to divest
us of our faith. The Holy Qur'an has also shed light on this principle:
it was put forth before the Muslims and the Jews, at the time when the
directive regarding change of Qiblah (i.e. the direction toward which
Muslims stand and offer prayer) was given, that Allah did not want that
their faith should go in vain.
And it was not Allah's purpose to divest you of your faith. He is
full of pity, merciful toward mankind. (2:143)

Music

Finally! I'd been deprived of music for soooo long! Firstly, my computer's speaker went haywire so cannot use... Then the whole computer cannot use 'cause there's a missing/corrupted file. That's not enough, I lost my earpiece so I can't listen to the radio on my phone. As most of you all know, I'm using my brother's computer right... Last time this computer has a small song collection (with Peter Pan) but somehow the whole collection disappeared... And since the other computer can't even on, I can't activate the music file sharing... Finally today I remembered I'd uploaded some music files from my computer onto Multiply and yes! I can download the songs onto this computer, I have music now! There's a few songs only, but can lar... I also finally got the chance to listen to the Beenox videos Zach took (Check them out here). The other time I could only watch lor... Haha, me so happy! I miss Beenox so much after watching the videos!

Miscellanous Entry - So many topics

Saturday, April 29, 2006

I've been freakingly eating non-stop the past few days! I think I gained weight, noooooooo!!!!!!!! That's a disaster! Before school started, I'd been watching what I eat, well most of the time anyway, and I successfully lost 4kg over the four months. I was so happy lar! I thought I'd lose more weight or at least maintain my current weight BUT the mere sight of food makes my stomach grumble. And yes, even after I'd had an extremely heavy meal! Well, I'm afterall A GIRL. A typical girl with her typical vanity haha. Of course I wanna look good, which I suppose I currently don't. My face have new pores, whiteheads, blackheads and pimples popping out and they're... so urgh! My face so oily lar... But whenever I wipe my face with the Clean and Clear blot paper thingy it'd seem like my face isn't oily at all! The paper always end up as dry as it was before I wipe my face you know... I just don't get it.

Anyway, I was browsing through Friendster just now and Nic was like "first and foremost....marilyana!! wat sean onli! me leh!!" Lolx! So.... here's what I have to reply to that. First and foremost (heheh), you mark my name for three days you still dunno how to spell my name ar? Lol, I hope it's just a typo error, though I doubt so... Nisa thought my name is Mariana, dotz haha. For those of you out there who still dunno... It is spelled M-A-R-L-I-Y-A-N-A. If you can't remember, jot that down and write 100 times everyday. Haha, kidding...

Back to topic... Ouch Nic, how could you think I'm biased? I'm hurt. =( Hahakz, no lar no lar. I'm a very fair person. If I write for one, I will write for all. And as you can see, that's what I'd done... in my blog. But well... Boo hoo, none of you checked it out. You're not the first nevermind. This brings me to the question, "Why do I blog?" Firstly, I blog because I think a lot and I don't know where to jot them down. Secondly, I also like to jot down the good and bad times I've had. Tell you a secret: I'm afraid of losing my mind. So by jotting the events of my life, I'm like securing my past in a way... However, I don't like to jot them down in a book since I don't like my handwriting sometimes. Being the perfectionist that I am, once I'd written an entry with an ugly handwriting, I'd either rewrite it or buy another book to start another journal. And so... to save money, I blog! Thirdly, by blogging I find that I can expand my thoughts. Blogging sorta relaxes my mind 'cause I'm like pouring out everything (wait a minute... not everything...) in my heart and mind. Fourthly, I know no one reads my blog most of the time (especially my family members) so it's safe. I'd thought of making my blog private but... Here comes the fifth reason of why I blog and that is so I avoid speaking ill of anyone. If you notice, I rarely say something bad about people on my blog. I don't want to hurt people's feelings. I can imagine what it'd be like if it was me that got hurt and I wouldn't like that. Hmm... I think there's more reasons as to why I blog, but can't think of any right now. Oh by the way, those who read my blog, please tag so I know! It gives me more motivation to blog...

Opps, I keep getting side-tracked haha. Actually today's post is about yesterday (at the same time, about Wednesday as well) and today's events but as you can see there's so many other things and hence the title.

Yesterday, school ended at 2pm since tutorials haven't start yet. So after school I went to Tampines Library to see if there's any of the books listed in the reference list there. Well... I only looked for Human Anatomy and Physiology (HAP) and found that the library has about 2 or 3 of the books listed, but they're of an older edition... This means I either buy the books ($40+ for first-hand and about $30 for second-hand) or I do what most other students do, that is to go to the school library, which is a really comfortable place anyway (you can read, write, photocopy, watch tv, use computer, watch dvds/vcrs or just study... With 8 floors, the library is equipped with almost everything! So far, the TP library is my favourite hangout haha), and borrow the books for 2 hours each, quickly read through and then return, which is kinda sian...

After that I went home to rest awhile before going out back to meet Siti at TPJC to watch the soccer match between MJC and TPJC. Since my ez-link is adult fare and the JC is in walking distance, I walk lor... Quite hot, but haiz... money is really precious to me these days... MJC's spirit very good leh. The councillors wave like 4 school flags, lead everyone to cheer for their school and beat drums (at first they used buckets, which well... ended up not looking like buckets a while later, there were big holes in them!). The students however, half were concentrating on the game and so only half cheered. The cheers were not bad. Reminds me of FoW and AS Orientation waaaaahhhhhh! :'( On the brighter note, I was squished between two MJs, Siti and Hidayah and they kept asking me to cheer for MJ. Haha, I blatantly refused. I'm not part of MJ and it's no use pretending that I am. It just reminds me of how I didn't get into MJ, not for PAE, not for JAE, so sad... I know you can just cheer on the MJ soccer team without having to feel part of MJ, but it's like when you cheer, you must have the spirit lah and well... aiyah so hard explain... Anyway, it was great seeing my secondary school friends again! First I saw Shida (err... she saw me first lol) then Asri, Hana, Marissa, Iyliana and Shahidah (was Fatin there?) called out to Siti and saw me and of course there's Hidayah and not forgetting Khairiyah who skipped MLEP to watch the match haha. I kinda miss TMS. I wanna organise a 4R gathering to go TMS together to collect our yearbooks and O level certificates, but dunno when would be good... Everyone seems busy, especially the JC people who'd be sitting for their mid-years soon. I thought of tomorrow (well, yo can say today...) but it's like so late minute and I don't like last minute planning like this.

Argh! Sidetracked again... So well, Siti and Hidayah were practically pointing out every single cute guys (according to them... my definition of cute is still quite different from theirs, except for one of the guys I have to agree heheh) there from the councillors to the soccer players (who looked so small and short on the field) to the supporters. Here's where I'm not a typical girl. Haha, I don't get it why girls must share information about who's cute and who's not. For one, as the saying in TMS goes... Cute is ugly but adorable haha. Whatever lah... But it's normal. In secondary school also the main topic between Siti and me is boys. She and her naming of all the cute guys and hunks she meet and me having a good laugh at it 'cause I always cannot see what's so cute about the guys she call cute. Haiz... Miss those bus rides together in the morning. Eh Siti, you read my blog tag lar! :P

At about 5.45 I left the TPJC compounds to meet Siti's sis to bring her to Alfa Edu Centre where Ad taught tuition. The thing is, Ad would have to quit (ok she already did. That day was her last day. She told me her students saboed her with powder and water - lots of them!) and she needs a replacement. At first I thought it'd be a good experience for me to teach there but I thought twice about it and don't think it'd work. Poly is already tiring as it is. Besides, my mum seems rather reluctant about it and I'm positive my dad is totally against me working while studying. Moreover, if I work, I won't be getting an allowance from my parents and whatever clothes/books/stationeries I need I'd have to use my own money. Since the pay is just slightly more than what my parents give me, might as well don't work right. Tire myself out for what, right? So yeah, I told Siti about the job on MSN the other day and she told her sis who'd just graduated from JC. She told me her sis was interested so I brought her to meet Cikgu Omar lor.

That's basically all for yesterday/Thursday (and Wednesday in a way). Today/Friday was actually quite enjoyable. Had Principles of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry 1 (PIPC1) at 9am for two hours and then Maths for an hour before break. The two subjects were more or less manageable. Both are about units haha. During break, the boys (and two girls I think) of the class left us (Ad, Nisa, Ya Zhi, Michelle, Ei Kyawt San and myself) to eat at MENSA while the other girls seemed to disappear into thin air. Ad was meeting her friend to have lunch together. She asked me along but I thought it'd be rather awkward lar haha so I went with the other 4 girls. Nisa and I were waiting at the 2nd-hand books sale area for HAP books to be restocked and for Nic (but turned out he's absent from school today). HAP books seem to be sold out real fast! We got tired of waiting, so Ei Kyawt San went to withdraw money to buy the other three books (Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and PIPC) while the rest of us went to MENSA to eat also. We'd wanted to sit with the rest of the class on the second floor but there weren't any seats available so we sat downstairs. Can I skip this? YES.

Yada yada yada, went library with Yan Zhi and Michelle, separated, met Raudah, did Maths tutorial, went to pray with Ad, checked the book sales again, met up with class, time for Organic Chemistry (OC). Since we were the last few to enter LT7, we had to sit in front. I was reluctant at first but I think it's good there though your neck hurts sometimes. I wasn't as sleepy there as if I'd sat at the top few rows as I always do. It's not because there's a lecturer right in front of me, because there wasn't. We 'share' lecturers. A few LTs would be filled with students but only one LT (it seems that LT8 is the one that is always the main LT) has the lecturer. The other LTs will see the lecturer on tv and the notes on the screen.

Anyway, OC was okok, but HAP was funny! The lecturer seems to be in the holiday mood already. He was teaching half the time and crapping the other half. Fortunately for us, all that he taught today is in the paper and it';s very clear-cut, about the systems in our body and what are they made up of and what are their functions. I'm gonna love HAP! That's one of the resons why I wanna get the book.

The funniest of the day was Applied Principles for Effective Learning (APEL). It was conducted by Yee Mon, the new lecturer from Myanmar and we had a good time laughing at the way he pronounce words, names especially. I know it's bad but as usual... Can't help it!!! Anyway, we were asked to tell the class why they chose Biotechnology. Half of them knows what they're doing. They are really interested to do veterinary science or research. The other half, like me, somehow ended up there. At least, for me it's not bad. I chose Biotechnology as my second choice because the subjects taught are similar to Biomedical Science, my first choice, and Biotechnology can still bring me to take Biomedical Science/Biological Science in University... My aim. I wanna be a doctor. I wanna cure people's illnesses. I wanna help people. Yes, I wanted to be a research scientist before but after much thought, it's not my type. Then, it was. Then I just wanted to be behind the scenes. But I don't have confidence that I can FIND/DISCOVER cures. A doctor only needs to USE/APPLY the cures.

Yee Mon was quite late just now and someone said, "If he's 15 minutes late, it means that he's absent so we can go." Haha, ya lor... AS IF! Nevertheless, he arrived 3 minutes (how I know this? Cause Joel said, "Aiyah, 3 minutes more only..." We understand lar haha) before 4.15pm. Before he entered the class, Heider was performing a kind of card magic trick. If I'd believed in magic, I would have been really amazed at what he'd done, but I know better. My brother has taught me some tricks so I know there's nothing really magic. They're all tricks. The funny thing was Heider's pretense to be in full concentration. His eyes were closed, his brows were together, his face was scrunched up and he was shaking. The whole class was laughing lar haha!

Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!! 4.30am already. I feel like a zombie. Sleep... Sleep... Sleep... Night! Eh, morning! Lolx.

By the way, I'd been listening to the song I put on my blog. All this while I used the other computer, the speaker was spoilt so I couldn't appreciate the song. Today I listen the whole way. It's a good lullaby haha.
If you keep on believing... The dream that you wish will come true...

Lectures, Lectures & MORE Lectures...

Wednesday, April 26, 2006

First day of lectures and I wanna disappear already... I think I spent more time laughing at the lecturers (sorry sirs/maams, it was irresistable ;)) than listening to what they were actually talking about. There's one who kept hitting the mike, there's another who couldn't speak proper English, there's another who talk so loud my ears were about to fall off and many more lar! Cannot tahan...

Anyway, I'm not here to talk about my boring and repetitive (they were repeating the same study guide for all four lectures when they could actually skip straight to the table about what topics will be covered for each week but I didn't complain coz I didn't feel like studying on the first lecture of the year haha) lectures but what I did the rest of the day...

During our 3 hour break, Nicholas brought us to buy second-hand textbooks for reference. The books were damn thick! And expensive too... So the class decided to share money buy one of each Biology, Organic Chemistry and Human Anatomy & Physiology textbooks. Yes, in case you're wondering... We will be sharing these 3 books among so many of us, 14 people! But what to do! We are not rich kids alright... We have to work around it lor. So far our plan is to form 3 study groups and rotate the books among the 3 groups.

After that we went for lunch at Business School, because supposedly the food there nice. Bleah! The Mee Soto so salty!!! And when it rained just now, you can SMELL the greenery lol. After eating, Heider, Anil, Ad and I joked and laughed until our (Ad and me haha) stomach's hurt seh! The bunny from TP Convention Centre made a reappearance in our conversation haha it always does.

Alamk I need to go really soon! I wanna do my homework to compete with Xavier. He finished his homework!!! I have a lot more to write... but next time lar kk...

ONE FOUR

Tuesday, April 25, 2006

14... Just a mere number... Right? Wrong! 14 is my class in TP, AF14 to be exact lar... A class of various personality from various parts of Singapore. Let me name my classmates and a bit about each of them to the best I can. Pardon me if I get some mixed up. Lol, some I remember their names but forget how they look like!

The Girlz:
Rabiatul 'Adawiyah aka Ad ~ worked as tuition teacher the past few months, knows some of us in class through our friends, was in military band, has natural hazel eyes according to her, sometimes laugh like a witch scaring me nearly to death, in Spydra during FoW, lives in Simei.
Sheena ~ was appointed class treasurer 'cause she looks really trustworthy, loves animals.
Nisa ~ worked at a factory the past few months and still haven't gotten her pay (ok, that's Friday's news), lives in Woodlands.
Gaythri ~ oldest among us all (I think), used to work as a primary school PE teacher, hurt herself in a fall and thus couldn't come for first two days of Applied Science (AS) Orientation.
Chloe ~ rarely smiles but when she does, looks really sweet, seems rather athletic, lives in Pasir Ris.
Marissa ~ my primary 2 classmate, her skin looks as white as milk, always kena sabo by our Orientation Leader (OL) Nicholas, walks to school via Bedok Reservoir.
Michelle ~ very quiet.
Shirlene ~ looks so much like one of the Sub-Comm during FoW!
Ya Zhi ~ err... slips my mind...
Ei Kyawt San ~ loves monkeys, in Antor during FoW, is from Myanmar.
Karen ~ the first person in 14 I talked to, seems to be a happy go lucky person, I dunno!
Xue Mei ~ she looks like plain Jane, such a simple person.

The Guyz:
Anil ~ always sighs, kena sabo become class chairperson, once a scout always a scout, in Antor during FoW, likes fantasy books, looks so much like Ramesh!
Heider ~ from 6/6 in TNPS (no wonder he reminded me of someone when I saw him with Rusy), always with his handkerchief haha, in Mantiz during FoW.
Xavier ~ I identified him as the guy who wore a t-shirt with a red cross on the front, reminds me of 'saviour', loves to say hahaha while chatting on
MSN.
Stanley ~ reminds me of Ren Liang lol.
Nelson ~ err, has dyed hair?
Lu Jie, Jun Jie, Xin Quan ~ can't remember who's who.
Joel ~ claims to have Elvis hair.
Dickson ~ I always mix him up with Joel.
Yan Hao ~ haha, the guy whose name I forgot and who forgot my name when we played the icebreaker.

The OLs (The Lim brothers lol):
Sean ~ super hyper to the point of craziness sometimes, creative with coming up all those cheers (Whoooosh, hahakz!), seems to regard bonds important, really fun to talk to, from Tampines Sec, from TNPS (???)
Nicholas ~ more serious than Sean thus the one to take charge of administrative stuff most of the time, likes to sabo Marissa, once a scout always a scout (he said it!), can be playful when he wants to (he and Wilson carried Sean into the puddle, the class refused to help them except for one of the guys who splashed a pail of water on Sean causing him to fly into a rage), danced at Jam&Hop so pro

Some went off already... sadly...
Top row: Gaythri, Ad, Me, Wallace (our acted CP for the first 2 days), Nisa, Xue Mei, Sheena, Karen
2nd row: Xavier, Joel, Ei Kyawt San, Chloe, Sean, Nic
3rd row: Yan Hou, Nelson, Anil
In front: Heider

So far, I'm most comfortable with Ad and Nisa though there's still frequent awkward silences between us. The rest... I'll have to make more conversations first.

I wanna bring my camera to take photos of the wonderful environment in TP but... very paiseh leh... Like what like that take photo here take photo there. Besides my camera the megapixel only 4.0, so the photos don't really turn out nice like Sylvia's always do... So jealous, haha.

Back to topic... The AS Orientation overall was great though I have to admit I didn't have as much fun as I did in FoW. The AS Orientation quite cool quite lame also lar... Got Vampires (Ventrue and Toreador) vs Lycans (Silverfangs and Fianna). I was in Silverfangs anyway, with all the other Biotech students in LT5. We had station games around the school to get to know our way around school better. There was also a short skit put up by the AS Studies Club at the Convention Centre in the Engineering School to help us remember some of the rules, though he had more fun laughing at the bunny (someone wearing bunny ears and stilettos and carries a vanguard telling us of the change of scene). Heider lar! Kept singing songs which really kena the situation, so funny! We had Scavenger Hunt too. So stupid one haha. There's one question which made us go in and out of the female toilet to name all there is inside like what the??!! Then there's questions asking how many vending machines are there, what's the cheapest sandwich sold in the vending machine and how many types of ice-creams are there in another, so ridiculous lor... One question we couldn't even answer, 'cause we couldn't even FIND that damn fighter plane, which we assume we had to do... Some of the question weren't specific enough so we just shot whatever answers we have...

The third day is the most eventful one in my opinion. The Final Clash was great. It was quite/very (lol) different from the one we had for FoW. The instructions weren't clear and I got totally mixed up initially, but it worked ok I guess. At least we all not as rabak (woah... Mr Tan, I hope you're not reading my blog... Haha, as if he reads blogs, what's my problem??) as Toreador's one, but that's 'cause Ventrue, Fianna and us allied to hantam Toreador lor. In the end, Fianna won and since Fianna is in Lycans too, Silverfangs cheered for them as well. As the winner, Fianna won the holy child *rolls eyes haha* which is actually lollipops lol. Then there was prize presentation. Ventrue won best LT (I thought Michael said LT5 clinched it??), Bendy (err...) won best OL and deserves it and AF14 won cash for trash (hmm... wow??). For the cash for trash prize, we won ourselves a $5 voucher at the school bookshop. Ok... Can lah can lah... Anyway, the Final Clash really drenched us from head to toe. I got hit by water bombs on all parts of my body including my forehead, wah pain like what you know. I lost my brooch along the way and when someone passed it to me at the end of the game, it looked it it'd been stepped on. Lucky I have extra pin in my wallet. Oh yah, we received the AS shirt. It is luminous lime green! Woah! Eyes pain, haha kidding.

After lunch, the traditional Regatta started. Firstly, there were 5 telematch games with the five schools competing. At first I was in the first game, pass water balloons with towels one, but I got really tired of waiting for the games to start and since they said two girls can opt out of the game, Marissa and I go join AS at the seats lor. We thought it'd be more fun to cheer from the seats with our classmates, but when we got to the AS area, we were asked to sit at the sides since there's no space in between and the area where we sat was super super quiet man! I know the people there are from Biomed since I saw my friend, who's in Biomed, there. She didn't recognise me, nevermind I was too pissed off with the group of people who didn't cheer to strike up a good conversation with her anyway. I thought Ventrues are Biomed students one... How can they win the best LT is they super quiet like that??????!!!!!!!!! I was really really pissed off lar! Biotech super hyper with AF13 and AF14 and Rubayn ok. Whatever lar...

So anyway, AS was never first in the telematch games, and neither were we last. We're always in between haha. Ironically, the Moon Ball game seems the most interesting. That was the game that I went "Huh??" even after reading the intructions a couple of times. Actually, it's like volleyball but with super duper gigantic balls haha. As for the cheering, it was already bad enough my area so quiet. They had to put Business School beside us somemore. Wah lau eh! Business so big! When they cheer, the IT students from the other end also can hear their words clearly sia! Business looks so fun one. They made their own maracas made of beans in covered plastic cups, they have yellow bandanas that unite everyone as one school and they even have Stitch and Chicky mascots. One of my OLs, Nicholas came over to my area to get my area to hype up and when he heard Business right next to us, he told Marissa and me, "I know why you all so quiet. Scared of Business right? I hear them also I scared." Haha, quite true lor though I think scared is not an appropriate word. We just felt that we cheer also useless. That's what I think. Firstly, Marissa and I and about 2/3 others are like the only ones cheering in our area. Secondly, we cheer also not like the participants of the telematch games can hear (when they're out on the field I mean). Thirdly, while we cheer then suddenly the Business cheer, we all are doing nothing but making our throats sore. Get the picture? There's one point of time where Design School attacked us from the other side and AS DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO REPLY!!! Just say something!!! I felt like getting suan by my brother and just keeping quiet aout it, not doing anything. I felt like bursting! Cannot take it... I'm not the kind to take things like this lying down. Even the MC was challenging us, you know! Really lar... What is this??

After the telematch games, the whole lot of us walked the slight distance across the scary bridge above the large drainage to Bedok Reservoir to watch the Dragon Boat Competition. We had to sit on a slope for like one and a half hour squashed like sardines. My butt hurt like what after that sia! The Dragon Boat competition went better than I expected. AS normally either win 1st or 2nd except once we got 4th... Again, I sat wrong place. All around me people were so quiet, especially the boy on my left... He ar, better go home sleep lar... Didn't hear him utter a word throughout the whole thing. When we stood to cheer, he'd just sit where he was quietly. Sometimes he'd stand, but then also never do anything. Maybe AS is the studious quai quai (how to spell ar) school. I have to say we have the most packed timetable... And our schedule more or less like JC... I'm not regretting my choice! It's just that, work hard play hard lar! Can't you just open your mouth and cheer?? Your voice made of gold is it? School haven't start yet, just have fun lar! Grr... See lar. I in Poly so enthu one... I'm really really considering joining GL after I've settled down with AS life. I think Rubayn and Karen considering joining TPSU, as in get involved. Maybe I'll follow suit... See how.

At night, the class went for dinner at Mac together (the OLs came later) and the bond seemed to have strengthened a bit more since then. After dinner, we went back to school for Jam&Hop. It was really like a clubbing session. I wanted to dance but somehow it just didn't feel right! Since my heart says it's wrong, I believed so and left after a while. They all say go in to see only, 5 minutes or so go home. What the... Half an hour, most of them so into it already I didn't even say bye.

Wah, I very tired already. Type for nearly 3 hours already ok... I have Communication Skills for Applied Science later at 3pm. Have to meet the class and Sean (our super hyper funny OL, he said he rarely angry ya true but when he angry I get really scared one...) at 2.30pm to collect our lab coats. After school, I gotta meet Shikin (madrasah...) to pass her some notes. Since her tuition start at 5.30pm, I really gotta hurry.

Oh ya, yesterday... Yesterday was crap lar... A waste of time and money only. Go school for dunno what PC orientation for an hour (which was really sian) then walked around the CCA booths (all sports... yawn...) then went to student lounge and went out back (saw Pomata but didn't get a chance to ask him why he's called Pomata) then went to Design School canteen (yum yum) but never eat, ended up taking bus 8 home with Ad.

Random: My appetite's been really big the past 4 days. I eat whenever I can put my hands on some food! That's bad! I wanna lose that 1kg back!!!

I have a lot more to write, my fears, my expectations, my aims and simply my thoughts but I really sleepy... Wanna get some rest before I have to head for school. By the way, as you see I didn't blog for nearly a whole week already and that's because I'm busy/tired with school, but my computer has a corrupted/missing file so can't on... I'm using my dad's/eldest brother's computer now and I can only use it when they're not using it which is quite irregular. AND moreover, the blogger uploading process seems to have something wrong... So, see ya peeps when I can! AND have the energy to blog lol. Bye!

Lame Cheer

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

Cheer ar x3 Lame, Lame ar x3 Cheer, Cheer ar Lame, Lame ar Cheer, Laaaaame CHEER!

I accompanied my father to his school's P5 camp at the MOE Changi Coast Adventure Centre to watch their campfire cum Performance Night. The performances were so lame, considering the trainers were the ones who thought up of them. The cheers were ok, but it got really lame after hearing it like 5 times. I really felt like giving them the Response Pomata haha but I pity them lar... They're only P5, later they cry their parents are gonna kill me! Besides, my cousin's there. Must show good example leh... =P There were like 11 groups and out of 11, 8 kept repeating the same cheers after their skits. I got really irritated man... Some were original and sounds really cute though. I tried try to remember them but haha I'm not successful. Forget already liao. When my head is less tired, I'll try to recall them aite?

It's really late now... I stayed up to watch Charmed. Last week cos of the workshop I missed it leh! They got Kristy back and I have no idea how they did it. This week showed how the demons wanted Kristy back. OoOo and this week also showed Henry proposing to Paige. Such a suitable couple... Henry's words were so sweet... Aww... Klah, I really need to go sleep now. There's the Applied Science orientation at 9am tomorrow, don't wanna be late! Will dream of Beenox again... Hehe, most probably... Nitez!

Yesterday...

Tuesday, April 18, 2006

Sorry for the err... mood swing yesterday. Haha, whatever lar excuses only... I dunno lar, yesterday just felt like shit. Language Marl... See! I'm even talking to myself now! Well, but blogging is talking to myself... Dotz.

I don't wanna change! I mean, if for the better of course want lar, but for the worse? I'd always thought that I'm not easily influenced, but now I don't think so. For one, I'm not minding my language as much as before...

Anyway, back to topic. Yesterday was fun... just. I wouldn't say really fun since I got really bored halfway. I was the only Beekum who went along, well besides Rubayn himself who organised the outing to Sentosa. The rest were with their cliques in twos and threes. Hilyah was with her friend, Lee Zhu. Melanie was with Jessyka and Mu En. Yen Ping was with Eunice. Zach was with Desmond. The GLs (Boo Master, Lobster, Ivan Jonathan and Nicholas) were around. Rubayn and Charmane didn't really have any cliques too, but their personality allowed them to mix around the crowd and have fun. Kok Seng was pretty quiet, but he managed to mix. Jason (Tan) was like me. He wouldn't go in the water, he didn't know who to talk to and he was quiet all the way. We talked for awhile, but then both of us suddenly didn't know what to say. I think I talked to everyone at least once the whole day, but the topics we talk about are about the situation, about what course we take and such like that. Aiyar... Me lar. I had never and will never know how to mix around people who already have cliques. Haha, tips anyone? I might need it tomorrow for the Applied Science school orientation.

Err... Back... Let me talk about the day from the beginning... We were supposed to meet at 10.30am but many were late. We ate breakfast at Mac while waiting for the latecomers and finally headed to the interchange at noon haha. Boarded the bus and off we go to Sentosa, to Palawan Beach I think. As soon as we reach there, some of the boys changed and jumped into the waters while some of the girls applied suntan lotion and tanned. The rest were playing frisbee/volleyball. As for me, I was sitting around, listening to my discman, scribbling on my notebook, taking pictures when needed and taking care of the bags and some cameras and handphones. I don't care what you say, I'm the most boring person to be with yesterday but I'm also the most important person! Haha ;P After some time, the boys started carrying girls into the water, starting with Charmane. Kok Seng was the only guy still on shore, other than Jason, and some of the boys and GLs ran after him a number of times, but he's very athletic, yep! Bla bla bla, splash splash, dares and all, one by one started coming on shore, some to tan, some to eat. The GLs then started the go, back, jump go, jump, go game. I joined in since there's no harm done until they started to play truth or dare as the forfeit. I'm not a fan of truth or dare so I got up to take the bread and mayonaise and starting making sandwiches. Not long after, it started drizzling and the rain was gradually getting heavier so everyone took their belongings and took refuge at the nearby 7-eleven. Since we didn't want to get kicked out, we started buying food and drinks and having a picnic in there lol. We took many pictures, mostly candid and had quite a lot of fun joking and making funny faces. When the rain wasn't as heavy anymore, we got under umbrellas, towels and plastic bags to walk to the toilet at Siloso Beach. It was quite far, but we didn't feel the distance as we cheered, joked, laughed and just had fun. Along the way, the GLs parted to meet Elvi who works there leaving the freshies to play at the water sprouts (whatever they're called lar), but the rain started getting heavier again so the freshies boarded the tram to go to the toilet. While the rest bathed, I sat outside listening to music still and taking pictures of myself (oh my favourite *rolls eyes*) while watching over the things. Soon enough, I saw the GLs riding on a tram past the toilet and I waved frantically. I thought they didn't see me as they didn't alight. I panicked for awhile but I figured that someone surely have the GLs' contact numbers so I just waited. Turned out the GLs just wanted a ride. They did see me but went ahead anyway. Aiyo... Lucky I didn't run after their tram hahakz, what a sight it would've been. Bla bla bla, everyone was clean and fresh (except for me...) and so we walked to one of the stations to get a bus back to the departure centre to wait for Elvi. There, again I was alone and bored. I tried to join in whatever Yi Shen was telling Eunice, Yen Ping, Desmond and Zach but didn't work so I just sat there like dumbo lor. I looked around and saw that Jason was like me too, oh well... The fate of people like us = boredom haha. Whatever lar. After quite a long time, Elvi joined us and off we go to Suntec to meet the most of the other GLs for dinner.

Dinner... Finally there's someone I can talk comfortably with, Hana! She's really sweet and nice. But most of the other Gls took advantage of that and bully her... Anyway, had a nice chat with her while we eat. There's one part she ask me if I'd talked to Ah Guang before. I told her yeah. I asked her why he is called Ah Guang. I mean Kai and Guang, like no connection... Hana refused to answer me and insisted that I ask him myself. Then she called Pomata. I thought Ah Guang is Kai! Lolx. What sia... Bla bla bla. Dinner was great, though I was so overwhelmed being around Beenoxians again that I was full even before I eat haha. But the food, which consisted of fried rice and black pepper chicken only, cost me $3.50, I had to eat at least half of it ok...

After dinner, everyone was headed to Suntec to join the Beenox FoC, but I really had to go so... yeah... had to say goodbye... Waaa!!! I thought I could have a picture of everyone WITH ME in it, but when I left, half of the group was in the toilet and I couldn't wait... I really had to go... Suntec was big and confusing anyway. I rarely shop there so I had no idea where I was going. Hana wanted to send me to the MRT but firstly she doesn't know the way either and secondly she doesn't have a handphone so it's gonna be troublesome for her to contact someone from the group to know where they are. So yeah... I walked alone to the MRT, following signs, which luckily I'd always been good at haha, but I was still kinda panicky. To make sure that I look calm, I listen to my discman and... it happens to be "I Cry" by Westlife on my cd... Hence the lyrics on the previous post...

Yes. No. Maybe. I don't know... Can you repeat the question? Haha, just heard it on tv. Malcolm in the Middle's theme song. I hope I wouldn't need this phrase in poly!

I Cry Silently... I Cry Hopelessly...

I Cry by Westlife

You said goodbye
I fell apart
I fell from all we had
To I never knew
I needed you so bad

You need to let things go
I know, you told me so
I've been through hell
To break the spell

Why did I ever let you slip away
Can't stand another day without you
Without the feeling
I once knew

I cry silently
I cry inside of me
I cry hopelessly
Cause I know I'll never breathe your love again
I cry
Cause you're not here with me
I cry
Cause I'm lonely as can be
I cry hopelessly
Cause I know I'll never breathe your love again

If you could see me now
You would know just how
How hard I try
Not to wonder why

I wish I could believe in something new
Oh please somebody tell me it's not true (oh girl)
I'll never be over you

Why did I ever let you slip away
Can't stand another day without you
Without the feeling
I once knew

I cry silently
I cry inside of me
I cry hopelessly
Cause I know I'll never breathe your love again
I cry
Cause you're not here with me
I cry
Cause I'm lonely as can be
I cry hopelessly
Cause I know I'll never breathe your love again

If I could have you back tomorrow
If I could lose the pain and sorrow
I would do just anything
To make you see
You still love me

I cry silently
I cry inside of me
I cry hopelessly
Cause I know I'll never breathe your love again
I cry
Cause you're not here with me
I cry
Cause I'm lonely as can be
I cry hopelessly
Cause I know I'll never breathe your love again

Don't ask... I can't explain... I'm feeling very horrible yet glad yet terrible yet relieved whatever... Let me just show you a picture, a picture I'd been wanting for some time and just found, a picture which shows my second family, a picture where I dunno why I'm not inside... By the way, the lyrics apply to something more than just what you think you know and I'm not talking. Just let me cry... :'(

I don't feel like talking about my day in Sentosa with some Beenoxians. I'm off to sleep. Will try to be cheerful again by my next post... Wish me lotsa happy smiles...

Jam & Hop... Err... Performance Night

Saturday, April 15, 2006

Went to the Jam and Hop at TP just now. I miss my friends and the GLs after only one day not seeing them! The freshies who wanna go said meet at 6.45pm, but I reach at 7.45pm also they still haven't enter haha. Sorry late guys... Before we entered and when we reached the Beenox FoC, we started cheering haha. So fun, miss the fun we had during the workshop. The Beenox FoC like kinda quiet. They don't seem to have bonded yet. To think they actually get to spend more time than us who attended workshop one. Anyway, I forgot to say... While going down the stairs, Nuratishah (right?) asked me where's my friends. I was quite dumbstruck for awhile. Excluding Marcus, who only came for the first day, the rest are my new friends so I pointed around us and answered, "There. These are all my friends what?" =) It's true... You guys are my friends too you know...

When the GLs came down to join us, the school song was played and together we sang and did the actions. I felt so heartbroken!!! It's like when the workshop ended, a chunk of my life had been taken out... Some of the GLs gave us a warm welcome. Sniff sniff. There were waves and hugs and all lar.

Then the performance night starts. Wah lau eh, just because they can stay until wee morning doesn't mean they can hog the stage right?? Some of the performaces were so boring I really wanna sleep... And the Program one, aiyoh! So what lar! Pick volunteers to kiss body parts including ass, breast and armpit. Urgh! I couldn't watch! Most of the performances so Brokeback Mountain lol, including the one by Beenox FoC. Beenox FoC put up a Geisha show, with the guys being the geishas. *shakes head* The performances by the GLs and Main Comm are very funny. I enjoyed them a lot! Especially the Main Comm immitating each other and the GLs haha. Pomata so cute, make that cengeng-crybaby face! Lolx. Then there's the Shermaine, Jason, Boo Master and Ruz (err... how to spell?) immitation. Aiyor, I laugh like what, cannot tahan liao!

The performances ended at around 11.30pm. It's really late already, but I can't miss the mass dance!!!! I already missed the one on Wednesday lah ok... The dance was great! Thanks for giving in to me and be the guy, Nuratishah. It meant a lot to me...

Too bad it was nearly 12 already and Maisha, Nuratishah and I really need to be off. I would really really love to have a picture of the Beenox family with everyone inside... Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to. :'( By the way, when we left, everyone else was singing the school song and then doing the chicken dance. How I wish I could join them... Waaaa!!! Those who had taken pictures of Beenox, please do send to all of us ok? Alright? Alright ok? Ok alright? Lolx haha.

Anyway, did a quiz on tickle on what kind of friend am I and here's what the results tell me:

Marliyana, you're a Sympathetic Sidekick
"No one ever accused you of not having a soft side. And that's why friends flock to your sympathetic ear and well-thought-out advice. You are tuned in to the world around you, and you are always looking for ways to bring people together and enjoy each other's company.

While some people might have one or two close friends, you like to spread your wings and socialize with any number of people. You are open-hearted and free-spirited, making it easy for you to find common ground with anyone you meet. Keep up the good work — everyone could use a friend like you."

Very very true, especially the part about socializing. Some of you old friends may feel that I'd forgotten about you. No, I never can. I hold friendship dearly. It just seems like I'd forgotten you 'cos while you are out there making new companions, so am I! And I tend to spend more time with the new so I can get to know them better. For those of you who are just starting to know me, let me tell you that I may be quiet when you first know me, but watch out when you really get to know me!

Happily Ever After... The End... NOT!!!!!

Thursday, April 13, 2006

B is for BEENOX,
We love Beenox!
If you wanna be the best,
Come join BEENOX!!

BEENOX is first!!!! It's half unbelievable, half expected. Ermz... Quite illogical. Nevermind haha. First day we were last. Our morale was low. I felt like not coming back. So did Marcus, Aisyah and so many others. But once you fail, try again and who knows, you might succeed. One of the GLs, Jackson asked me yesterday why I came back, I didn't know how to answer, but I guess the answer is: I believed in BEENOX. But in the morning of the second day, I was still unsure. Should I go? Or should I not? I was really tired after the first day. I really didn't want to go through another day of boredom, sweat and ache. But I... Dunno eh. I just bathed, grabbed my duffel bag, piled the necessary things in my bag and off I went to poly alone. When I reached the sports hall and sat down with the rest of the freshies who were greeting good morning, I just felt more alive. I think I was smiling haha. I just knew I didn't make a mistake coming back and it's gonna be one of the best days of my life. ;D

That second day was very tiring as well if not more tiring that is. We learnt many new (and unforgettable) cheers. We were more energetic and we can feel the whole BEENOX uniting. I was starting to make friends with people from other sub-empire. I'm in BEEKUM. That day, BEEKUM was really sian. Left 8 freshies. From 18 you know! Nevertheless, we did great. The BEEKUM GLs were really supporting and played the station games with us. Thank you for your support GLs!!! We had a lot of fun together though after all the games, I've had my feet stepped on and tied up lol. Quite pain you know, especially when one heavy GL step on my poor little feet, almost crushing my bones haha. Nevermind, nevermind. It's better now already. But the best part of the day was learning the mass dance. The song so cute!!! Mary Moon! She's a vegetarian! Mary Moon! Mary Moon! Lol, it was great, though quite awkward and uncomfortable 'cos need to pair up with the opposite gender and must hold hands lar. We also had performance night and BEENOX did a fantastic job. I think we were the best, besides Centis. BEENOX put up a skit under the direction of Charmaine aka Charmander haha. I was one of the five streetwalkers whom one of the nerds approach. Desmond aka Handle With Care funny lar lol. While we were waiting for our turn to speak, we were supposed to mumble things lar. He mumble mumble, but his eyes on the pair before us... When I told him not to look at them, his answer so innocent one but I can't remember what he said. Then, after we were done speaking in the mike, I was supposed to pull Maisha offstage and he was supposed to sit there looking dejected and pretending to spot other girls to ask for their number but dunno what happened, he go follow us offstage and got scolded by Charmander lor. Anyway, after the performances by all the freshies, there was a star award. The nominees were Green Gtatue from Antor, Drummer from Centis, Security Guard from BEENOX, Harmonica from Spydra and Jellyfish from Mantiz. Antor's green statue won, haha! His name is Wei Jie I think. He was the boy watching tv and changing channels. While he was performing, the Main Comm so bad leh! They write funny notes on the back of styrofoam plates and showed it to the freshies behind them. The notes very sarcastic ok! Really man... B-A-S K-E-T basket family sia... For green statue was School Socks ('cos he was wearing white school socks very high) + pose = cannot take it (or something like that) and everyone (including me, sadly... I also cannot tahan lar!) laughed at him. Poor guy, he didn't seem to know we were laughing at him. At one point of time, he moved and the Main Comm wrote, "Green Statue moved!" and again everyone laughed. After Antor's performance, the Main Comm passed the styrofoam plates for him to keep. If I were him, I'd have cried when I see the notes you know! So hurtful leh. Maybe that's why yesterday he didn't come... Hmm... I think I'll skip to the end of the day. We got third in place. Actually it's second last since there's two empires that got second. After the main debrief, BEENOX had our own debrief. The GLs told us why they shouted 184 when the results were being revealed. 184 is the height of Hazwan, the tallest GL. Lolx! Unfortunately, we got 150 only. BUT, among the 5 empires, BEENOX improved the most! Yay for BEENOX! During the debrief, I just got emo all of a sudden. I really wanted to cry when the GL cheered for us. They're a really wonderful bunch of people... When they asked if we wanted to go home, we said no. When they asked if we were tired, most said no. I say most 'cos I answered yes hehe. I'm an honest person you know ;)

Second day, I woke up at 6+ and I couldn't sleep back. I was really excited at what was to come. I didn't know much about what we'd do for the last day except that there'll be water games. The water games were fun. We love programs! We love programs! Haha! The first station was at the tennis court. We were supposed to throw water bombs from one end to the other using trash bag. The scene must have looked so funny! Water bombs flying everywhere and smacking down at our feet. Lol. While we were throwing the water bombs, the GLs cheered for us. Since I'm at the end of the line and so many water bombs drop before they even reach us, I joined in the cheers also lar. BEENOX GLs the best! After the game was over, the Sub-Comm people told us to throw the water bombs we'd collected at the GLs while cheering. We cheered the "G is for GL, We love GL..." cheer and topped it up with the series of claps and lastly we shouted, "GL!" I threw my water bomb anyhow one. Lucky never kena any GLs, haha they all scatter like what! Then Wan, the tallest GL, splashed a bucketful of water at us and it's our turn to scatter like mad lolx. I was quite dry hehe. Next station was at the STC. We had to play Captain's Ball with butter instead of a ball. Haha, so slippery and oily lar! In addition, the GLs were shooting water at us with their water guns and some shot at our face one leh! Keep having to wipe my face resulting in the spread of the butter. Both teams did well. It was a draw 5-5, weeeeee!!!! After the game, we ran to the GLs and wiped our buttery hands on their shirt lol. The freshies were then asked to squat in a tight half circle and a Sub-Comm threw a bucketful of water at us from the second floor. I so suay go squat at the front hence I got really wet, but I was wearing black so can't see how wet I was. Emy, sorry I shouted at you! It wasn't intentional. I shout in a joking manner one. I know everyone is wet. The water was cooling and I wouldn't mind getting thrown at again, really! So la la la, we went to the amphitheatre where the theater club always perform. Here we were asked to break into two groups. A will stand on the left side of the stage, B on the right. Then 5 rangers from each team were spread out over the seats. The rangers were to throw water bombs at us and we had to catch them WITHOUT using our hands. My team numbered the rangers B1, B2 and so on so we can direct them on where and how to throw. It worked more or less. I caught one, but it exploded on me. Maisha also got one and fortunately, it didn't explode. Oh I forgot to mention that those on the stage must pair up and tie legs together so our movements were very much restricted. At the end of the game, it was a draw again! Woo hoo! Then the Sub-Comm ask us to squat in a circle on stage, close our eyes and cheer as long as possible. The GLs so sweet... After all the water bombs we threw at them and butter wiped, they crowded around us to protect us. Aww... Touched touched. The freshies together with the GLs cheered very loudly! So gempaq! After this station, we only had time for only one more before we were expected back in the sports hall. The station was beside the fountain, at the foot pebbles area, lol I dunno what you call it lar. Again we were separated into two groups. I was in the econd group, so while the first group walk and scream on the pebbles, we were to throw a water bomb each at them. The walkway is very long ok... When it was my group's turn to go, I really cannot tahan leh. The pebbles so sharp and searing!!! Pain you know! After both groups had gone, we thought it was over. but then... the Sub-Comm challenged us. If we can finish the walkway in less than 1 minute, the Sub-Comm will jump into the fountain. So.... We all formed a looong time and RAN across the walkway. It felt like we were walking on big, fat, sharp needles!!!! Pain like hell! I dunno why I agreed to do it haha. It turned out we finished in 1 minute and 3 seconds. Aiyar... Then dunno what the GLs and Sub-Comm agreed on and the GLs also ran across the walkway! The freshies cheered them on! They really supporting one. Hana was really in pain halfway already, but with our cheers, she continued all the way. Yay for Hana! Since both freshies and GLs ran across the walkway, the 4 Sub-Comm had to reward us right? And so... THEY REALLY JUMPED INTO THE FOUNTAIN!!! 3 cheers and 3 cheers and 3 cheers for Programs. Hip Hip Hurray! Hip Hip Hurray! Hip Hip Hurray!!!! So fun lar... After this task, we ran all the way back to the sports hall. It's not really that far but it felt like I'd ran 2.4km haha. Inside the sports hall, everyone no energy left already. Luckily we were to learn sign language instead of cheers. Phew! Don't have to talk at all. Well, for the freshies at least. It's cool learning sign language. Might come in useful someday too. So, for now, the languages I wish to learn are Mandarin, Arab, French and Sign! Haha, I love languages and I can pick up phrases quite quickly. Anyway, we learnt to use sign language from A-Z and for some words used in a Temasek Song (no, not the school song...). Some are easy to remember and do while others kinda make your fingers twisted around each other lol. Oh, and Xinyu sang the song very nice leh... Accompanied by the sign language even nicer... At home, I really can't stop singing the song (as close to how it is supposed to be as possible haha short term memory lar...) and doing the signs at the same time. Maybe one day I can show my cousins, who're deaf by the way, the song. Back to the day's events... After singing/acting out the song and lunch (we changed into the red FoW shirt during lunch), we had to do tasks as a whole empire. I was the timekeeper. Haha, Elyn, tak sia-sia kau panggil aku 'alarm clock' tau (For non-Malays, I was saying: Elyn, it's worth it you naming me 'alarm clock' afterall). For every x hour 15 minutes, we're supposed to lie dead on the ground and for every x hour 45 minutes, we're supposed to form a circle and massage each other's shoulders. Everyone so gancheong (like me ;P) one, every few minutes ask me the time haha! Relax ar, I know my job! Anyway, some of the tasks very easy, some very hard, some utterly disgusting, some kinda silly, some cause damage of school property and some put us through a great deal of pain lol. Let me state some examples... Disgusting: A girl has to spit into a guy's underwear. Two boys have to kiss each other on the mouth. Damage school property: Everyone has to fit onto a school bench (which is actually a table with two benches) and when half of us climbed onto it, we heard a crack. Lol, the Sub-Comm got scared and asked us to come down, assuring us that he'll give us the marks for our effort eventhough we didn't complete the task. Pain: We had to form 2 lines, sit on the floor, put our legs around the person in front of us and use our hands to pull us along 100m. Pain like what you know! Especially our thighs and arms... Some of the girls said, "First experience of giving birth". Lolx. One of the tasks was to look for our FA and ask why he/she wears a gold ring instead of a silver one. Haha, Pomata (our FA, dunno if Pomata is really his name, lol I doubt it) had taken his off and pretended not to know what we were talking about. Think we dunno meh? 3 days see him already leh! Of course we'd noticed the gold ring he wears on his right middle finger. At last, he gave in and told us Alvin (I think) asked him to. At 4.15pm, we ran as we cheered to Tembusu Grove (err?) for the Final Clash. The game is very interesting, though rather confusing initially... The foreign students had difficulty understanding the rules and stuff so we had to explain to them slowly. I really wonder how they're going to understand what their lecturers teach them when term starts. I mean, I imagined myself going to China to take a course there and the course is taught in Mandarin. It's gonna be really hard!!! So anyway, BEENOX's strategy was to defend, defend and just defend. Only a few boys will go out of the triangle to attack to try earn more points. Charmander got really angry when Syaza tried to go attack and got hit by a water bomb on the way, resulting in her disqualification. Charmander vented her anger by repeating "Do not go out and attack, just defend!" so many times. I got really frustrated with her, to be honest. But I managed to control my frustration and asked her why she's being so tensed up. She told me that she takes everything as a challenge and morever, one of the GLs told her that they'd never lost the Final Clash and that she is pressurized to continue this. Well, what can I say to this? I just adviced her to have fun and not get too tensed up over the game. So anyway, the game went (with so many disruptions) and BEENOX's lollipop, as they call it, was the only one that is dry. The others had either gotten wet or already had a whole through (which meant the empire is down). At the end, there was only Antor and BEENOX left and while our lollipop is still very dry, Antor's was really soaked through. Before the grand final, the Main Comm announced that all of us still in the game have gained immortality, which meant that we won't 'die'/be sent out of the game if we get hit by a water bomb. So... When the whistle sounded, signaling the start of the grand final, all of us went all out to attack the other empire's lollipop. BEENOX got a hole in Antor's lollipop first and thus, we won. HOWEVER, one of us (I still have no clue who) had broken a rule and did a jump shot, hurting a girl in the process and caused us to lose half the points. After the winner was announced, everyone headed back to the sports hall. On the way back, Antor sang BEENOX cheer and vice versa, then dunno who, came up with the idea A-N-N-O-X Annox, Annox, Annox! Both Antor and BEENOX cheered so it was really loud! Back at the sports hall, all of us sat down and Safarie asked for volunteers from each empire to say a few words about the camp. While they were talking, I thought about the camp. It had been really fun and enriching. I really enjoyed myself and made a lot of friends among the freshies and the GLs. I would have loved going through it all over again, even if it means causing my throat to be really really sore! I really didn't regret coming. It's 3 days well-spent. If I hadn't gone, I would have rotted further at home. The workshop somewhat brought me back to life! Anyway, after that was the award for best freshie from each empire. From BEENOX was Rubayn! Congrats Rubayn! You really deserved it after all the cheers you lead and all. FINALLY, the time came for the champion to be announced. It was really nerve-wrecking! Felt like the time I was waiting to receive my O level results haha. The results were announced from last to first. The HGLs (I think... For BEENOX was Elvi) were asked to stand in front of their empires with the empire flags and a Sub-Comm stood next to them each. Glenn was the Sub-Comm standing beside Elvi and he kept asking her to hold the flag out as if he was about to take it up (to show that the empire had gotten the ranking Safarie mentions). You could feel everyone holding their breath while the ranks were announced. When the last turned out not to be BEENOX (for OTC, BEENOX was last...), the BEENOXians breathed again before holding our breaths again. When Centis's/Antor's flag was raised, (Centis was first on 2nd day while Antor was runner-up for the Final Clash), we knew it's a 99% that BEENOX would win! Mantiz is good but BEENOX won Final Clash, which contributes a lot of points!!! When Mantiz was announced second, all BEENOXians instantly got up and jumped for joy. The feeling was really great man... FIRST! BEEONOX ACTUALLY GOT FIRST when we were last on the first day! That's a really great achievement! But I must say Glenn might have something to do with it. He was the Sub-Comm in charge of BEENOX for the tasks in the afernoon and he didn't take things really seriously, like we didn't have to massage each other at EXACTLY x hours 15 minutes and as I mentioned he gave us marks eventhough we didn't complete the squeeze-on-a-bench task. He also gave us the marks for the third massage eventhough we didn't do it. For this... THANK YOU GLENN! Of course, BEENOX did our part too! The GLs were supporting and the freshies were enthusiastic! 3 cheers and 3 cheers and 3 cheers for BEENOX! Hip Hip Hurray! Hip Hip Hurray! Hip Hip Hurray! After that we had mass dance, but I missed it for... reasons unstated. When I came back, BEENOX freshies were sitting in a circle and telling how they feel about the workshop while eating the snacks we'd gotten for winning first. When it was my turn to speak, I talked more than I would have when I was in Secondary School. I expressed exactly how I felt about the workshop. After the freshies' turn was the GLs turn. By then, my tears had also spilled down my cheeks. I knew I'm gonna miss them... They really are a great bunch of people. Vincent (I think) told us not to forget BEENOX as soon as we got home. I silently replied, I wouldn't be able to forget BEENOX for a lifetime... When those who had things to say had said their piece, it was time to give out the certificates. I totally didn't expect that haha. Didn't know orientation workshop also give out certificate of participation, but I'm glad for it. It'll serve as a nice memory... At the very end, all of us formed a circle and sang and danced and cheered together. The Tatako (actually it's tak takut, which means not scared) cheer really broke my heart waa!!! The cheer was full of spirit, loud and sharp... Then some of the GLs and freshies hugged, so... (lost for words) Even recalling it makes me feel like crying leh!

BEENOX, you make me sick, you make me crazy yet I still love you! *Muackz* BEENOX feels so much like a family to me that I dreamed of BEENOX last night. I think I was doing the cheer movements while I sleep haha! I woke up in the morning to see that half the things on my bed were on the floor! Whoops! Then today while I went out with my mum, I saw go many things which reminded me of BEENOX and the orientation. For example, while my mum buy takeaway food, I saw the stall vendor tying the plastic and I was reminded of how we tied the water bombs as well as how BEENOX won the Final Clash!!!!!

That's it lar... I wanna be a GL. I think that's the best CCA for me even if I'm quiet at times. Here can make a lot of friends and that's what I need. My friends from secondary school who are in JC have already moved on and left me behind. When I talk to them, it's like we're so detached already. 4R class blog is stagnant and less than 15 people sent me their profiles. I'd done all I can to keep 4R together. Of course I will always keep 4R close to my heart, but it's time I let go. I'm in poly now and I will make the best out of this opportunity. I'm starting to feel that I belong in Temasek poly ever since the second day of orientation. This is where I'd be for the next three years. BEENOX is my second family now. Go BEENOX go you go we go!

Before Orientation

Monday, April 10, 2006

Yay yay, orientation is here! I feel rather guilty for looking forward to orientation more than starting Poly itself. Elyn and Karen don't seem excited about the orientation at all. Elyn was complaining that she didn't feel like going when I talked to her on the phone last night while Karen is totally not going since her cousin's not going. Morever, Elyn said this TPSU orientation sounds useless, just introductions and sports activities. *stares* I hope not!!! I'm really excited about the orientation that I could hardly sleep yesterday!

So anyway, I'll be leaving house at around 8.20-8.30, catch either 8 or 15 to Temasek Poly and meet Rusy and Elyn at the bus stop. Then we'll figure our way through business school to the Sports complex where we're supposed to gather at 9am SHARP. My bag is quite big considering this is just a so-called day camp. Well, they ask me bring extra clothes, I bring lor. Then with some other stuff, my duffel bag is quite full already haha. The bag's not big to begin with aite. From the packing list, it seems like they want us to shower in school. No, no, no... I don't care how smelly I'd be, I'd hail the bus and get home THEN shower. If I smell like shit, I'll just ring my dad to pick me up, at least for today since he took an off.

I really wonder what the activities are like. They call this day camp a workshop, sounds so boring lol. But if I'm gonna have fun, I'd have to have a positive attitude on this. Speaking of positive attitude, I learned this in religious class yesterday. I mean it's not like I don't know what positive attitude it lar, just how a positive attitude can help someone (me) have a better day even if the whole day's a total shit. With this, I shall have a positive attitude on everything I do.

Religious class yesterday was meaningful. I'd tell you all about it if I didn't have to go... But I really need to go dress now and be on my way! By the way, Marcus just smsed me saying he's going for the workshop instead of the overnight camp afterall! Yay yay, that's another person who seems to see this orientation as I do. Oklah, my mum nagging me ask go dress NOW! Lol, cya peeps!

Aches, Bruises and Sleepy Eyes

Saturday, April 08, 2006

Wah!!! So what lar. 2 times go toilet, first time 20 mins, second time 10-15 mins. By the time I was done, it's already about 8.45pm, so missed KPR... I really wanted to go. Last week no KPR, no religious class also... I'd been un-Muslimah-like. Lol, the word look funny.

I hope I won't have to miss religious class tomorrow, for whatever reason. I need to increase my iman haha. But then, I already have a sore butt, slightly twisted ankles, strained calve muscles and a bit of a headache. This is what happens when you play netball/captain's ball after not training for weeks. Lol, I feel like an old grandmother with all the aches. I hope there's training next week, I need the workout!

Netball training, which turned out to be netball-anyhow-play and captain's ball training, was great. Since there's at most 5 players on each team, I got to catch the ball many times. Unlike secondary school, where there's like 10-12 on each team running around everywhere in the court and hence me, the short, butter-fingered girl and gets overshadowed by everyone, always didn't get the ball passed to.

Throughout the training, I think I stopped to drink at least 3 times! I was so exhausted. How to join competition like this?? Must workout, must workout! Anyway, after the training, I'd fallen twice, once on my butt and once on my knees and lost my footing dunno how many times due to my loose shoe. So many times I wasn't blocked yet as many times, I was blocked by 2 people, mainly Siti (she look so small and sweet) and Hakimah (or is it Nadhirah??? Lol, I kept getting them mixed up!) and sometimes Nabilah (her hair is really nice - no she was from school, so didn't wear tudung).

Can't remember what else I wanted to blog about today. Really sleepy now, ciaoz!

The Question Everyone Wants To Know The Answer To... Lol

You won't believe what my dad just asked me. He asked, "Have you heard Malice (my cat) fart? I've never heard her fart. Maybe cats don't fart." Lol, the question of the century... I replied, "Why don't you lie down behind Malice one whole day and listen if she farts? Then tell me, I'm interested to know too." Haha!!

Anyway, I feel so suffocated sitting at home, seeing my family's face 24/7 minus when they sleep, in the toilet or go to work. I'd not seen my friends for nearly three weeks already! Hidayah, me and a few others were supposed to go back TMS to collect our yearbooks, but turned out it was cancelled since many can't make it... I was so looking forward to it aite. I thought of asking Hidayah if we could hang out, but when she smsed me to tell me about the cancellation, I was quite tired already ironing my clothes (which was a huge pile!) in the morning and then going to my grandma's house to ngaji. So yeah... Didn't even see Hid... :'(

At least tomorrow I'll see the Fatayats! There's netball practice from 4-6pm and then there's KPR from 8-10pm. Not that I have good rapport with the Fatayats, I'm still pretty much keeping to myself. They already have their cliques and I don't know how to get closer to their group. It is NOT 'cause I don't know how to make friends as my 2nd brother presumes. I always make an effort to talk to the people sitting near me but I'm just not successful ALL the time ok...

Should I go sleep now? My parents are already asleep. My 1st brother won't be back till at least 3am I'm sure while my 2nd brother is staying overnight at Joe's chalet.

Oh by the way, I'd received an e-mail from TPSU regarding the 3-day workshop for freshmen. From the list of to-brings, I think we're having water games on the third day. They ask to wear dark t-shirt on the third day AND stated in brackets 'females only'. Obvious right? Hmm... water games... It's gonnabe fun! I can't wait for Monday!!

Bugged

Wednesday, April 05, 2006

There seems to be an increase in the number of bugs (insects) around my house these few days. I've seen/heard about 2 cockroaches, 2 lizards, 2 beetles and 1 dunno what fly. I thought only good things come in twos lol.

Anyway, not only the bugs had been bugging me, but people too. Ok, not as in irritating kind, but just got on my nerves. Like this evening, my dad was telling me why I didn't get into Biomedical Science course. I just got so pissed off! I mean why rake it up again?? I'm already in Biotechnology so let's get over it alright. I'm making so much effort to do the best with what I'd gotten, but people around me seems to feel that I should have gotten better. I wish so too, but what can I do?

Heath decided to have a debate corner in the Astral about a week ago. It started out fine, then Heath and I got kinda hotheaded and all of a sudden we both decide to accept each other's views. The motion was "The ban on smoking is an infringement on human rights." Actually we were both on the same side but... lol I dunno. Go read it here! Now we're debating about religion. It looks like it's gonna be interesting... If you're free, join in the debate ya!

Hmm... I thought I had a lot to write about, but I'd forgotten lol. Till next time then!

Crazy Morning

Monday, April 03, 2006

I had a lot to say this morning, but I was sleepy after the hospital appointment and following my mum after that. Now I still do, but I need to go off in abit.

Random: My brother's watching the dance competition on tv, looks interesting but I must blog about my morning haha.

Since I'm not in the mood to be longwinded, which I always am, I shall just write what's necessary. Ok then. This morning I had rehabilitative services at CGH again at 8.30 a.m. Well... I was late haha. Since the three therapists working in the gymnasium were busy, I had to wait for quite some time before one of them was done with their patients. Anyway, while looking around the room trying to hold down my stomachache (I always get stomachache when going to the hospital for these check-ups) I saw a poster saying something like this: "Any patients wearing Manchester United will be treated last. We are not sorry for any disparity because the staff members here are all fans of Arsenal or Liverpool." I was like going, "What??!!" when I saw the small print: "We were just testing if laughter (humour) is the best medicine." Lolx, should have known... A while later, one of the therapists was done with her patient and called my name. Her name's Nurhafiza. She's the same therapists who took me the last time too. That time, I found her quite unfriendly but today she was fine. She smiled more today. So well, she asked me if my pain had recurred and I replied no. She told me that if so, she could discharge me today already and then told me what to do if the pain recurs. Oh, she asked me if I had been doing the stretches she'd taught me and I answered truthfully, sometimes as it has yet to become a routine for me. When we were done, I thanked her and went to the cashier to put my appointment card in the box provided and sat down for awhile before the person at the cashier called my name. I already had my IC and CSC ready for payment. Before I sat down in front of her however, she handed me my appointment card and told me, "No charge and you're discharged." I smiled, heheh. Hurray!

My mum haven't paid my handphone bill, so we took the mrt to Tampines post office. While my mum paid my bill, I was standing by the progress package registration form. I wanted to ask my mum if she wanna take a form for my brother. While standing there, a really really super delighted and excited quite-old woman walked in and talked so loudly. She looked quite ok,but she certainly sounded not okay. I can't remember what she said initially. A person at the counter told her that the form is at the end of the counter. Since I was there and the woman was nearby, I picked up a form and pre-paid envelope and passed it to her. She was so excited lar! She kept saying, "Lee Hsien Long give me $880. Lee Hsien Long give me money, you money," then she ran around the post office asking what to do. I told my mum, "This is what happens when the government give people money. Those not crazy also become crazy."

I'd written two long paragraphs about how much I miss my friends and why I can't update the class website and it got deleted! As much as I wanna repeat myself, I'm very tired now and I'm gonna accompany my mum go CC at 9 tomorrow morning *yawns* So, next time then...
